Golfing in the rain??

Do you guys golf in the rain? I was driving through my community the other day and it is pouring rain outside. There were people playing golf. Who plays in the rain? I would take a rain check and you would find me at the bar! lol
in LV as you do, there's little reason to play in the as normally you can wait ten minutes and play without it, the last few days notwithstanding. I live in Seattle which is known for the wet stuff. I no longer play in the rain, but time was my buddy (who has lived in LV the last 15 years) and I would play anytime the temp was above 40 and there wasn't a downpour occurring. If you're going to be an avid golfer up here, you're going to have to brave the elements sometimes. Goretex is a big seller up here and for good reason. I've known golfers paint their balls (golf balls) red to play in the snow. Personally, the only place I've ever played in the snow was at the Legacy back in the mid ninties. It started on 16 and was coming down heavy by the time we finished.

At this point I want to be comfortable and enjoy myself. Rain doesn't fit into that equation. I'm far more comfortable playing when it's 115 than when it's wet. If it's 50 and dry though, I'm out there. I remember playing at Red Rock on Xmas day one year (it was 60) and not feeing a chill until the sun went down.

I'm sure there are a few hackers out there with some good foul weather stories.

Good Luck!

I have played in Scotland and you really need to brave the elements there.

If I had a chance to play St. Andrews on a 40 degree rainy day, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I golfed Boulder Creek in low 50 degree and windy conditions in October and enjoyed it. If I lived in Vegas, I probably would not have played that course on that day.

That's the thing. If I come in from Seattle where it's been 47 with drizzle for the last three weeks, 55 and sunny is great. If I live in LV and there's a chance of rain today, I just wait until tomorrow because it's be sunny again. Why torture yourself.

Good Luck!

Yep here in Scotland you really don't have much choice but to play in the rain! Really looking forward to my upcoming Vegas trip to play in sunshine and heat!
If it's cloudy with a chance of rain, I'll probably play and don my rain gear if it starts to drizzle during the round. If it starts to pour, I'll huddle up someplace to keep dry and wait it out. If it doesn't let up, I'll call it a day.

Although, I'll never walk off the course due to darkness. I'm getting my 18 in. Friend of mine was a greenskeeper and said he'd find tons of balls in the fairway on the 17th and 18th holes when he mowed them early in the morning. Guess I'm not the only one.
