highland falls - good or bad?

how do you rate this course. looking at playing there in june and want to know how other golfers like it!
Compared to what? Have you played any other Vegas courses for a frame of reference?
I just started playing out in vegas the last 2 years and played desert willow and boulder city municipal gc. any recommendations on las vegas golf club?
I played there back in the fall of 2001. The reason I remember is that we raced back to the condo to watch a Mariner game during their 116 win season. Anyway, it was ok, but nothing out of this world. More on par with a Black Mountain than The Legacy. Of course they charge accordingly also. It's not as cheap as Boulder City Muni, but not as much as the resort courses. Personally, I would pay a little less and play BC again. This comes from someone that has played Highland Falls once and BC probably 35-40 times. It's just overpriced like Black Mountain, in an already overpriced market. Where are you staying while you're in town? I might have a couple of other recs.

we are coming to vegas the 3rd week of june. we are at orleans that taking a trip to the canyon then finishing up at el cortez. have you played at alainte? by alainte station.
I have played Aliante a number of times. I was actually a member there for a year when OB Sports let non-residents join for resident price. Anyway, I haven't played it in a couple of years and have been told it's not in great shape. I stopped by there last June and was told I could play for $35, which is a good price even if it's not in perfect shape.

Since you're coming into town the end of June, you'll be there in the off season. This means that all courses lower rates for the summer. Twilite rates start at 11am for a lot of courses because of the heat, but don't let the heat scare you. You'll ride in a cart right to your ball. Just be sure to drink a lot of water and save the adult bevs for the 19th hole. Fees will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-65% of their regular rates, so it's a great deal.

Staying downtown gives you easy access to freeways. You'll be within 20-25 minutes of most any course. I would recommend playing one of the better tracks in town other than Cascata which is very expensive. TPC LV, LV Paiute Resort or Primm Valley are tops on my list. They may run $25-30 more than most, but the experience will be far superior. Course conditioning and service are fantastic. As my best bud always says, "You're on vacation, treat yourself!" He's right.

Yes, think about Pauite, 3 great courses. Check the weather and make sure the wind is not going to blow lots are it will kick your ass.
The courses are always in good shape.
Good point about the wind at the Paiute. It's in the middle of the desert, so it can blow. To a degree, the same holds for the west side of town. If you play in the Summerlin area (TPC LV, Angel Park, Badlands) the wind really picks up in the afternoon, so play early.

someone told me about Silverstone, out by Santa Fe Station. Anyone play that one lately? How would you rate it? Their rates are nice.
I got e-mail specials from Silverstone for a long time, but haven't received any lately. The offers I received were very good, although never said if they were meant for locals. I'm sure they were. That being said, I would bet deals are available there and all over town with today's economy.

I've never played there, but my locals buddy has and says it's ok, as in just ok. Temper what he says as he works at a private club and his club pros and members get him comped all over town, so to him it's just another course. I'm sure I'd like it, but then as long as the sun's out and I've got grass in front of me, I'm in hog heaven. I have enough trouble hitting the ball to worry about course design. I do know that i've never read a review that was gaga about Silverstone.

Good Luck!
