las vegas national golf course

going to vegas in october and thinking about playing a round of golf at the LVN. I am a average golfer, you know if I get a bogey i am happy and was wondering what your thoughts are on the course.
Rather good layout, all things considered. I've had nothing but slow rounds with bad staff 'tudes in my experiences, though. Get's a lot of spin because it is "Strip close," whatever that means. I'd say it depends on the price.
I've p[layed it a few times, but back when it's current morph was as the LV Hilton CC. I enjoyed it because everywhere you looked it was green. Just the style I like (I live in Seattle). Another reason, like the old Desert Inn course, was the history. Everybody from Arnie to Jack and Tiger had played the course. I think some scenes from Casino were also shot at a courseside home. When you're a hack like me you look for reasons, right? Anyway, I'm sure you'll like it. I didn't find slow play, but the times I played there were in the afternoon if I recall correctly. Prices a few years ago were a bit high, but I have no idea about these days.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your input. If I do play in October it would be ~ 3PM. The price seems AOK. I just do not it to be too hard for a average duffer like me.

Trust me, you'll have no problem playing this course. There's grass everywhere and if I remember correctly little or no forced carry. You should enjoy yourself.

Good Luck!

Sunset in Vegas by mid-October is just after 6:00. If you're teeing off around 3:00, you might not get in 18 holes.

I played Vegas National in 2009, and ran into some of the same issues that Ken describes. I agree with Ric's comment though - I wouldn't worry about it being too difficult to play. Badlands, it ain't.
