Recent Golf Course Reviews?

Let's try to get some action in here. It has been a while since I have seen anyone post about some Las Vegas Golf!

I would like to hear any recent reviews of golf course in or around Vegas.
Me too. I will be there in October and plan to golf one nice course (Paiute or Reflection Bay) and one value (maybe Los Prados on a groupon deal).
This just isn't a really changeable field, and particularly not in Vegas where golf has kinda just flatlined. Courses don't really change unless someone truly gets in there with a dozer and has a it. What changes is conditions, but asking about that here is going to be as fruitful as seeking water on Mars; there just aren't enough posters who play golf and who do it often enough for condition reports to be accurate. Hell, I was just out at my home course and in four days since my last visit they lost a good hunk of the landing area on #7 to some blight or fungus.

I've played Shadow a few times in recent months, and it's still Shadow. Coyote Springs remains one of the most fun tracks in existence up there. And damn it was nice to get out when Reflection Bay reopened last last year. But I have no idea what's going on at the grass level right now.

There is a ton of golf chatter at vegasmessageboards.com. Well, a ton when compared to this informational wasteland.

Is TPC Las Vegas still a great course? Well, I haven't been there in two years but knowing they didn't blow up any holes I can say it's still a great course. I have no clue if the conditioning is so-so or OK or stellar, however. Anyone?

Do you see what I'm getting at?

P.S. Los Prados is flat out -- and flat -- boring.
I was out in May and played a few rounds.

Boulder Creek, course was in good shape. had a deal on ez-links for $25, a steal for that price.

Legacy, another course in good condition, they did remove some more brush since my last time there. really opened up a couple of holes. another deal at $30

Bears Best, great shape, played on a Sunday and played in 4.5 hrs. nice pace. another deal, although a little more at $85, not bad for a Sunday.

All courses had very good customer service. That is one of the best things about Vegas, they know how to treat people.

Well you wanted some, I gave a couple, I wasn't sure how many people even browsed here any more.

There never has been much substantive chatter here, even going back. As I've said many times, if you want to talk golf or Vegas golf but not on a golf board, consider vegasmessageboard.com. I still stick my nose in here frequently just to see what if anything is going on, but the proof is in the vacuum. Sadly there also seems to be a lack of depth on the once hyperactive paid boards, too. Time changes, people move on.

I've decided to head up in August. Don't at all relish the heat -- a big change for me from a few years ago -- but I haven't attended the PGA Fall Expo since probably 2010 and I'll be working on several articles that just were assigned. So a winner winner. I'm trying to get some of the other Golf Boyz to meet me. We're thinking Cascata, definitely Coyote Springs and who knows where else.
Wife and I played Coyote Springs when we were out in May. Great course conditions and a very fun course. I shot well, so that is probably why I liked it so much! The rates with rental clubs was really cheap. I think it was like $100 each with clubs and unlimited holes of golf and 6 Nike balls.
I would recommend it to anyone, it is a bit of a drive from Vegas. Sometimes leaving town for 6 hours is not a bad thing! We will return and play this course again.
It was not busy, less than 15 people on the course the day we played. Sad because it is really a nice course, not sure how long it can continue without housing and such around it so, enjoy it while you can.
I have heard so many good things about Coyote Springs. i think I will play there next (once it cools down) I am not much of a fan of playing golf in 115 degrees. It is good to see some posts in here. Stay cool out there and have fun!
