As the 2011 season gets underway, we'll be using this thread to keep you informed of casting calls for pool staff, pool opening dates, and other news and updates, so stay tuned. • February 2, 2011 Nikki Beach Cafe: The new Nikki Beach Club party pool at the Tropicana isn't due to open until April, but Café Nikki is open for business and launches a new "Locals Happy Hour" on Thursday, Feb. 10, featuring $5 cocktails, specialty ceviche, and sushi bar, and will be offering Locals VIP cards good for special offers in Vegas and Nikki Beach venues worldwide. Happy Hour runs from 4-7 p.m., Monday to Friday.
• February 1, 2011 More Pool Casting Calls: Today it's the Beach Club at the Hard Rock's turn to host an open casting call, which takes place from noon to 7 p.m. in the Joint, recruiting lifeguards, food runners, cocktail servers, cabana attendants, bar backs, and VIP hosts. Bring your resume and come dressed in your best beach attire for audition photos.
The main pool at the Mirage hosts a job fair in the Montego Room tomorrow (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Thursday (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.), looking for people to fill various positions in food and beverage, pool, and retail. Submit your online application at www.mgmresorts.com prior to attending.
• January 31, 2011 Pool Casting Call Reminder: It's the second day of interviews for Bare pool (Mirage) and Liquid pool (Aria), with the open call taking place from noon-5 p.m. at Haze nightclub at Aria.
• January 30, 2011 More Pools Hiring: The latest pools to host open casting calls are Light Group's Liquid pool at Aria and Bare pool Lounge at the Mirage. These party pools (Bare is topless) are hiring cabana hosts, guest attendants, bartenders, barbacks, security, cooks, and food runners. To apply, visit Haze nightclub at Aria between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, or between noon and 5 p.m. Monday.
• January 19, 2011 Hard Rock Beach Casting Call: It's just been announced that the Hard Rock's Beach Club casting call will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from noon to 7 p.m. The open audition will be to fill all seasonal postions, including at SKYBAR and REHAB, including cocktail servers, lifeguards, cabana attendants, VIP hosts, and more. Patrons are asked to bring a resume and dress to impress in beach attire. Audition photos will be taken. • January 18, 2011 Wet Republic Recruiting: Yesterday it was the Palms pool; today Wet Republic at MGM Grand begins holding auditions for the 2011 pool season. The first casting call runs from Jan. 18-21, followed by a second wave Jan. 24-26. Auditions will take place inside LAX nightclub at the Luxor from 1-5 p.m. and the events are limited to 100 people each day, so get there early to avoid disappointment or a wasted journey.
• January 17, 2011 Palms Pool Reminder: The Palms pool is hiring lifeguards, cocktail servers, bartenders, food runners, porters, security, and managers from 1-7 p.m. today in Rain nightclub. Fill in an application and upload your resume at www.ninegroup.com/careers.

• December 26, 2010 Rehab Reality Show Axed: The fourth season of TruTV's "Rehab" reality TV show has been canceled, reports the Las Vegas Sun, apparently as a result of the ongoing lawsuit between the Hard Rock Casino and the hotel chain, which claims that the series featuring the former's notorious summer pool party is damaging the Hard Rock brand image.
