Advice needed for a first-timer at a member meet.

I just posted to see if anyone would like to meet during March Madness. I've never attended one of these. How about advice from those of you who have attended meets? What should we do and NOT do? Thanks for your time.
The most obvious thing for one is since it's likely that no one knows anyone else, you need a means of conveying who you are and what you're there for.

Trying to hold a meet at a place like Margaritaville is akin to trying to find a needle in a haystack. Bring a MRB and place it on the table or some other means of letting attendees know how to find you. I know this sounds obvious but I've tried to attend two meets last year and finally opted out after not being able to find others from the group.

Thanks, Dan. I've noticed you're always so helpful and positive. You're and asset to the boards. Thanks for your time.
Pick a location that's easy to find and set a specific date and time. If you're the organizer, select something that works for you, Tuesday, 4 pm, Heart Bar, Planet Hollywood or Brew Pub at MSS. I usually pm my cell number to those who say they are attending. Understand that you're in Vegas. Sometimes people have the best intentions of attending and "Vegas" happens. If less people attend then who post on your thread, don't take it personally.

Thanks, Lisa. I'll keep you posted. March Madness really takes over in Vegas. people get wrapped up in "Vegas." I'm female and always feel I'm drowning in a sea of testosterone this weekend. But I love basketball. We'll see. Thanks for your time.
I brought a pen and paper for names and notes for my trip report. great people

Yes, I like Members Meets! It's a great way to meet up with fellow players and exchange war stories and hopefully some other good information!

When some of us met at Binions a couple of years ago, we agreed to meet at the players club booth & each of us had our POV book. That made it really easy to identify everyone & we had a great time!
I've gone to meets that have not happened also been to well planed out meets. Meets are a lot of fun! Plan on leaving a LVA book on the table and make the reservation under LVA not your name.

Meets are fun!
It never hurts to call the venue and make sure they don't have a special event the day you are planning to meet. I once showed up for a meet at the Four Queens to find the usually quiet lounge packed to the gills with firemen attending a tradeshow. Myself and another member spent far too long waiting outside for some people who ended up no-showing anyways. We went to Magnolias for a nice dinner and a few drinks but not the meet we expected.
