anyone going to Vegas in 2025

March Madness for me too.  But this might be the last one, it's just too expensive even with comped rooms.  Minimums are too high, car rentals jacked up, flights super expensive, ride share premiums, crowds are too big, drunks are too drunk.  My buddies and I have been doing MM for almost 2 decades and its kind of dragging on us the last few years.  We've added an October/November trip and that may end up being the meet up after this year, we'll see.

Since you can stay home and watch the games in comfort (no screaming drunks; no smokers; your own comfy chair), eat whatever food you want during the game at a fraction of the cost of Vegas restuarants, etc. etc....and the nail in the coffin is that it's pretty easy to find somewhere to bet, either online or physically nearby. I can't imagine it being anything resembling fun to be in Vegas during March Madness.

Of course, I've found it increasingly hard to imagine being in Vegas as fun at all these days. I hate getting ripped off, and I hate crowds.

That might be ok, but its a tradition and its usually the only time of year we meet up as we are all scattered around the country...it's more about hanging out with old friends than it is the games these days.. just an excuse to get together.

Then maybe you can rotate being hosts. If the current host has a big house, that could work; otherwise, pool your money and rent a nice big suite at a local hotel. Either way, it'll be far cheaper and much more pleasant than fighting the screaming crowds and paying the gouge in Vegas.

Someplace like Tucson or Phoenix would have great weather and wouldn't be beseiged by crowds.

Wish I could meet you or other on forum.I go on my birthday hot June 81 this year.I agree with prices.Yet Las Vegas a long time birthday tradition.Plus I lived a short time in Las Vegas as a young 21 year old.Listen to this I am writing a complaint.I use Alaska Air miles for travel. This September I am going to Canada train tour. Main cabin 12.5 k miles not bad to Vancouve.About the same for Las Vegas these days.Return from Toronto same.Yet now at my age nice to go first class. Price 95 k. I went to Europe for less round trip.

We just got back from a 10 day trip.  Not going back until april !

Candy we usually do a strip day at Park.  Aria, and Resorts World   Maybe Belliagio too

I go to Belliagio for the floral exhibit.Yet rarely the others. At my age the walk abit much.

March Madness is indeed Madness in Vegas.  I've done the first and second weeks.  It was fun years ago but now, no thanks.  I have a casino 8 miles from here.  You can't bet on an app in Wisconsin, only in person but I'll go there, make my bets and then watch from home.  Google TV has Multi-View so I can watch 4 games at once.  And/or I'll set up 2 TV's next 2 each other plus my laptop.  If there's a game I'm really interested in it gets full screen.

BFF and I were in Vegas, at Wynn, March 3-6.  Then to Beau Rivage in Biloxi March 11-14.  Both included birthday comps for me.  Rarely do a back to back trip, but it just worked out that way.  Did decently well both places, came home with a little over each week.  Biloxi is very nice, laid back, on the gulf, relaxing.  Storms came through afternoon of our departure, making it an 8 pm departure instead of 5 pm, and concern for drive home from the airport, but it smoothed out for the flight and the interstate drive home from airport around 10 pm.

Next trip might be to AC in May, still thinking, charter to Caesars AC which is really nice.  Have to drive 2 1/2 hours to airport for it though which I do not like.  Rarely goes AC from our home airport.  Already have flights back to Vegas/Wynn in July for BFF's birthday.

I guess I should have written this in Trip Reports.  Oh, well.

Candy

Belated happy birthday Candy.  Congrats on the good fortune of the back to back trips.  Now that we are retired we might do a Biloxi trip.  I used to know quite a few people that went down there. What is the lay of the land down there and is there a time of year to avoid ?
