November 12- 20 ish

At least a few years ago, there were companies that the casino where you're staying will contact, and said companies will deliver the scooter to your casino for you.  Then, you just ride it around until you are ready to depart Vegas, and the company will come pick it up.  Very little effort required on your part.

And sorry to hear about hubby!!!!!!!

Sorry about all your husband's health issues.

Thank you, antennanut and Blonde.  The last many years this trip was for him, SEMA week, always booked everything for it.  The last two or three years have been a failure because of health reasons (and last year cancelled due to the pandemic).  He really wanted to make it this year but recovery from surgery for the back didn't happen soon enough (our miscalculatiion) and the broken foot and torn right thumb didn't help.  He is right to back out.

Hey, we really do take our 'opposable thumbs' for granted.  And this had to be his right (dominant) hand.  He is doing better, but not enough to travel (except for BFF and I who are still going...LOL).

Maybe next year...sigh...

Shoot, I hate to hear he's likely to back out.  We take our health for granted, and then we realize we shouldn't be so cavalier about it.

Yes, and it is bad when you have medical problems flare up away from home.   I really appreciate your concern.

I think it's better for him to stay home and make his recovery as rapid as possible rather than go on your trip and a) possibly reinjure himself b) slow down his recovery due to the natural stressors of being on vacation (schedule disruptions, physical exertion, sleep issues, etc. etc. etc.) c) not enjoy himself--and probably make your trip less enjoyable in the process.

Several years ago, I injured my back, which apparently exacerbated some mild sciatica--long story short, I was in bed and in physical therapy for two months and could barely shuffle around for the following four months. I initially took oxycontin for the (at times drastic) pain, but flushed them all down the toilet after the first time I "came down" from the drug-induced high. The up wasn't worth the down.

In a nutshell, six months of my life was edited out. Every plan I'd made, to do anything, was in the crapper. I was able to do some work, but really, I didn't get much accomplished and of course, I bled out my savings (at least my medical care itself was covered).

So I guess what I'm trying to say is--while you're in good health and all the various bits and pieces are still attached and functioning, go do it, whatever "it" is. There's a good chance that you won't be able to do it in the future: shit happens. Furthermore, often, shit is caused.

I hope you still enjoy your trip. Should be a nice time to be in Vegas.
