Last Saturday, August 16th, I was part of an awesome member Meet. 5 of us from around the country ....
BBKING (Michigan), Tom McKenzie (Virginia), Chihuahua (Texas) and yours truly (New York).
We all showed up around 6 p.m. with Tom actually being the first 1 there (it was at his hotel so he had better be on time ). BBking arrived shortly after I did and chihuahua showed up with his lovely wife!! We talked about everything under the sun included tubs of beer at the bars in the Honduras (Bbking had pictures), which we all thought would be marketable in the states. Bbking has spent a lot of time in the Honduras and for the first time in my life I actually knew where this country was located.
Toms knowledge of music as a renowned musician also gave us some unique insight into the world of music. Coupled with his tactical/intelligent approach to 9/6 J o better, i left the member meet witha better appreciation of the game and how i could make it work for me.
Saturday was also Chihuahua's birthday, so a couple of I.P.A.'s (Indian Pale Ale), a Blond brew (did I get that right BB?) and an Odouls...or 2 or 3, along with some great Vegas, and life, stories...made the 3 night fly by. Having lived in Texas myself for a couple of years, I enjoyed flashing back, thru Chihuahua, about places that I had been to (Austin, San Antonio) where Chihuahua has either lived or currently lives> It definitely brought back some good ole memories!
It was 8 p.m before we knew what had happened! Chihuahua and his wife had tickets to Andrew Dice Clay and I had my heart on seeing the San Fernando band at Arizona Charlies and BBking had a ride to catch back to Sams Town by 8:30, so we broke, slapped it down, and talked about future meets in Vegas.
Its a unique time when you get to meet up with folks that collectively you have never met before ( I met BBking before but none of the others) with the common thread being Las Vegas and why we like it, how we got there and what we like to do when we get there! I sensed that everyone took something from that meet that they can hold on to till future meets! Hopefully we will make it an annual affair. The staff at Chicago Brewery were good (not great) and the brews were spot on!!!
Till next year!!
