I may compose my thoughts about betting professionally(don't laugh, I'm really trying hard!) for the last 2 and a half months. Then again, maybe I should spend more time on figuring out what the heck I'm doing! I'm always learning something, so that may just take time. A lot of time. Be happy and have fun.
Ten things I've learned about professional sports betting(nowhere near an exhaustive list): 1. Betting with real money is much different than betting on paper. A much different mindset when you have skin in the game. 2. When Frank B. said to learn HOW for bet a sport before handicapping a sport, he was right. 3. There is a lot of bad information about sports betting out there. A lot! 4. Emotions have no place in sports betting professionally. It's all about winning money. 5. When Frank B. said to have as many outs as possible, he was right. I know having only one out has cost me and I've only been at it 2 1/2 months. 6. Sports betting is not good for your ego. 7. Varying the size of your bet is not good. Usually. 8. Sports betting professionally takes up A LOT of your time. 9. Don't pay touts for picks. I never have. Again, Frank B. was right. 10. The more I learn about professionally betting on sports, the more I realize how much I don't know. Be happy and have fun.
Sounds like you are on the right path and glad to hear it. Let's add: Make an effort to target the less stable offerings (team totals, props, second level sports etc). Arena football, CFL, Golf, UFC, NBA Summer League - sports like that. You'll generally find weaker starting lines and more variance in what's available due to a lot of it not being on any lines screen. For someone trying to build a BR these provide stronger edges. The limits won't be all that high but for bankroll-building players that shouldn't be an annoyance just yet.

Thanks for the additional advice Frank B. I have been looking into some side sports. Information is a bit harder to come by, but can definitely see value there. 80 - 80 - 2, -13.06 units NYM/StL UN 7 -115 CHC -127 CHC -1.5 +130 KC -118 game 2 KC -1.5 +135 game 2 Be happy and have fun.
