Any "bad" rooms at Bellagio?

Hello,

I'd like to make it out to LV this summer and am considering the Bellagio just as a way of treating my wife (and me too of course). Are there any rooms that the more experienced traveler would consider poor or those to avoid?

Is the tower located just south of the main tower considered to be the "cheap" rooms?

Thanks for any info.

If you truly want to treat your wife, spring for (or otherwise score) a lake view room.
This is no time to be cheap.

To me that IS the Bellagio experience. To me.

Some report getting one without the $50/night extra, just for asking.

Other than that, the rooms are pretty much the same and same price, including Spa Tower.
Corner rooms are bigger and have better bathrooms, but looong walk from elevators.
Don't know if price is higher. Ours was comp.
Ask for one if you don't mind the walk.
Some of the rooms in the Bellagio are still a bit dated. They haven't completed a remodel from what I've seen. I see TV Coffins with huge CRT televisions in them.

To me, CRT tv's = old.

I'd go for a Lake View room if you're trying to treat your wife.
..... the only thing is the l-o-n-g-a-s-s-w-a-l-k to the end rooms, like Candy says
It can be a drag after a long day in Vegas--- the hall ways are very long.
I heart Bellagio

Book a lake view room and at check-in ask for a high floor room in the center. We did that and given a room with a perfect view of the fountains.

There is a channel on the TV that plays the fountain show music. We sat for hours in our room one afternoon/evening having drinks & snacks and watching the fountain shows. It's worth the extra $ for the lake view room.

Just my .02 but if you're looking to "treat" the wife to something special I would bypass the Bellagio. The fountains are truly a sight to see but you can see those from the street or a restaurant in the Bellagio. I have stayed there twice, once in a regular room and once in a penthouse suite. The suite was very impressive, the regular room nothing at all special.

For "special" I would suggest the FOUR SEASONS. The location is south strip so not as ideally located as the Bellagio. They have a house car available to guests who want a ride to any hotel on the strip (and maybe other places, not sure as I only used it for strip properties) when last there in was a cadillac escalade. ( I think they also have a Mercedes) All you do is tip the driver.

If you or the wife are "pool-people" it just doesn't get any better than the FS. You still have access to the Mandalay Bay pool complex but after lounging in the FS pool area I doubt you'd bother going over to the MB area after the first trip over. Pitchers of water supplied with lemons/limes various other fruits. Free Haagen Dazs popcicles, frozen fruit balls also served. A girl walks around asking if you want to be sprayed with EVIAN water if you're too hot and another guy walks around asking if he can clean your sunglasses for you. Over the top=YES , special= ABSOLUTELY.

Service is of course excellent. Used the concierge for "O" tickets same day. Got 4th row dead center. Very elegant and subdued property and for some an oasis from the madness that is Sin City. The view of the strip from that far south is fabulous.

It's not budget thats for sure but with the 3rd nite free offer they had last year it would be right in line with what the Bellagio is charging I'm guessing. It worked out to 185/nite if I remember correctly.

I just did a random search of rates for both properties with a May 15th arrival for 3 nites. Neither are specials or offers. The Four Seasons is $239/nite (no resort fee of course) if you book under the "REWARD YOURSELF" program if you stay 3 nites you get one nite free on a return visit if booked before Dec 30th 2011. The Bellagio is $189 plus a 22.40 resort fee so 211.40. These prices do NOT include taxes.

Having said all that, as mentioned I just pulled random dates. The FS has rates as low as $179/nite but I didnt check when they were. Considering all this, even at the rates for the dates I ran, IMHO the Four Seasons BLOWS AWAY the Bellagio both in value and definitely the "SPECIAL" categories. Hope I've complicated things a little for you lol..(and maybe helped a little)

Best of luck in your search and hope that you and your wife have a very special trip to Vegas!!!!
tttzone,

Wow. What a review! I currently have comped rooms to choose from, but you make me want to pay to stay!
It sounds fabulous!
Hi SLOW and thanks..I am by no means a Vegas expert although it is my favourite destination in the US. Can't remember exactly how many hotels I've stayed at there maybe 8 or so but everything from TERRIBLES (which I liked I might add) to that PH Suite at the Bellagio.

My next Vegas visit includes stays at the Riviera/Golden Nugget/Tropicana. It's an "all-boy" trip for my son and I to celebrate his 21st. If I were going with my significant other however, I wouldn't consider anything but the Four Seasons on every trip. After that last stay, she won't LET me consider any other hotel there regardless of price or freebies. That's how blown-away she was. No doubt there are better rooms in Vegas, the FS is comfy enough for us though. (did I mention I stole the L'Ocitaine soaps they supply?)

I have however travelled extensively for work ie. over 100 flites and 200 hotel nites/year. I have also done maybe 10-15 island destinations for vacation from Hawaii-Mexico-Carribean-Bermuda etc. both budget and luxury 5stars. I might add some of my favourite trips have been to the "less-luxury" properties. I ain't no hoity-toity,,,lol but can and do appreciate some of those 5 star joints.

The service/value/ammenities of the FOUR SEASONS in Vegas is second to none in my opinion when you are considering something "special/different" and I'm not talking about just Vegas. It is my FAVOURITE hotel period.

I totally agree with this.
I paid and stayed at FS for a medical meeting.
I love Bellagio, Encore, etc.
But FS is a different animal.
Maybe it's that they aren't having to play the comps game.
Maybe it's that everybody pays (I suppose).
If you think you have been treated well anywhere, try Four Seasons Las Vegas.
OMG
It's a whole 'nother level of courteous...
They excell at grace...
Everything is all about YOU at every encounter, at every turn.
All rooms are way, way up high. No parking deck views at FS.
Free Kuerig coffee in the room, too!
Perfect for a really special occasion.
