We just got home and were not required to log in at either Aria or Mandalay Bay. I was suprised as previous trips asked for room number and last name. My smartphone had WiFi access most everywhere in Aria which was suprising as well.
I just called the hotel and there is no deposit required on a comped room. The only problem is I will not be able to use my $75 food credit. I would rather skip the credit not to have to use a card.

Are you saying you would give up $75 just because they ask for a deposit?
I am really confused. I always just give them my credit and really could care less if they want a deposit.
I don't carry high limits on my credit cards and I am already using it for a car rental and another hotel. I would rather just skip giving them a credit card and forfeit the $75 food credit for expensive food. They want to hold $390 on my card for 3 nights.
I just returned home from a 10 day stay and it is correct that they no longer require a daily log in for wifi (they did require the daily log in when I was a guest back in April).
