enhancement fees @ MGM WTF is this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

planning on possible staying @ MGM June 12 2011 as i like a quick trip to McCarren for an 7:30a wheels up. i read tonight "non smoking room guarantee for $10/knight". if i want a "guaranteed" smoke free room i should pay an EXTRA $10. I have been staying @ MGM for over 10 years, have NEVER paid extra and have always gotten a smoke free room facing Hooters.
"early check in guarantee" between 9a-3p for only $10. so if i check in between 9a-3p i will b charges and EXTRA $10!!! if i set and wait until say 3:05p i will NOT b charged the extra $10? if i fly PIA-LAS through DEN i will arrive about 1:30p and i can b to the MGM by 2p but waiting for say 65 mints is wasting time. yes i could get lunch, play poker or just walk for an hour. i think giving the bell man $5 when i arrive to watch my bag and $5 when i pick it up defeated the purpose of avoiding a $10 fee.
maybe i will stick with Ballys @ $39/knight.
It must be the new years roll out of asinine fees generated by the highly overpaid mental midget bean counters. Can you say "No Resort Fees, No other Idiotic Fees"? I am with you, I would also take my business elsewhere.
A $10 fee for smoking in the room would make sense.

Reading closely, it sounds like a quick gip for the "guarantee", and you might could actually still get a non-smoking room without asking for the "guarantee", and perhaps even "early" (3pm is early???) check-in, as long as you don't specifically request the "guarantee."

But just the thought of this shabby tactic turns me off.

O2B took the words right off my keyboards--

shabby tactics is right...MGM,
I check into Bellagio next week..... they wouldn't do that there...would they? I don't think so.
They're trying to pull a fast one on tourists, not us gamblers-- we know how to word it/work it.
Absolute idiocy! What is the logic? Between resort fees and now this, they surely must lose customers IMHO. If not droves, at least me and my Vegas traveling friends.
I am probably in the extreme minority however I would gladly pay the 10.00 for the guaranteed ability to check in right away.I never arrive in Vegas until after 330-400 because I can not enjoy myself totally and never start drinking until my money and other valuables are in my safe.I don't mind leaving bags with bellhop but walking around with my full bankroll and credit cards doesn't appeal to me.This would allow me to arrive 6 hrs earlier, unpack, take a refreshing shower after a 5 hour flight then start having fun right away.A good deal for me.I'll take cover now.lol
I do the same, Manny-- but have never paid.
My normal check in time is 10:30AM-1PM.
I have had to wait one time for a room in all my years of coming to Vegas.
To tack on a charge for what's been the norm is a scam purpatrated (SP?) on unsuspecting tourists.

Much like a coffee machine/pot when Paris frist opened up-- I asked for one from housekeeping, was told there is a $25.00 a day fee.
Well thanks but no thanks.
Live and learn
I understand where you are coming from Noahcat and rarely wait myself however in 25 years I have had to wait more than a handful of times(even now with VIP checkin) and will take a room in an inferior tower, bed type or smoking since my number one thing is getting in my room.I fly out from Detroit 3 times a year and just not having to worry about it would make the trip much more relaxing.I think of it like an airline seat, you might get an isle or window but the couple dollars each way to make sure allows me to sleep better.Everyone has a "thing" .lol
Everyone has a "thing". With all of the unoccupied rooms available in Vegas it is readily apparent that this is just another way for the casinos to get into your pocket. If you feel the need, go ahead and support their greed. I personally think it is a waste of hard earned money.
