I Almost Stayed At NYNY...Almost

Well, I made a quickie trip to LV last weekend. In on Saturday and out Monday morning.

I had planned on giving NYNY a try even though I was admonished ahead of time. LOL

Hey, I could not get past VIP check-in!!!

The short version is the lady, a nice-enough Asian woman, just could not honor my confirmed
reservation as stated. LOL

I even brought along a copy of my email invite as exhibit A.

She ran around like a chicken with her head cut off. LOL

I mean, she must have had several clandestine meetings with 2 or 3 different folks
and that does not count her phone time talking her freaking head off to people.

The main problem focused on the room.
It came down to the fact I was supposed to receive a Marquis Suite and instead was
offered a Spa Suite, which is just an enlarged room.

What did she finally tell me, you ask?

She said they were out of Marquis Suites. LOL

This is what I told her:

"Look, first of all, casinos never run out of assigned suites for players and even if they did,
they would just bump them up to a better one."

She then said the hotel was completely sold out.

I said, "Gee, they must all be in their rooms right now because the place looks pretty empty." LOL

Oh, she also said after I inquired about the resort fee:

"Yes, you will definitely be charged one." LOL

Anyway, I walked over the bridge to MGM and they welcomed me there with open arms. LOL

No resort fee for me there.

Well, I tried.

What is wrong with NYNY?! Stupid, stupid, stupid of them. I'm glad you were able to walk across the street and be well taken care of. Did MGM Grand offer you the promo chips you were supposed to get at NYNY?
Mare, I just used the invitation they send out quarterly.

I had it in my bag but they had it anyway.

It's a suite, $1,500 in chips and the food varies quarterly. This time it was not unlimited.
I think the limit was $500. Hey, I'm solo, how much can a hot dog cost, right? LOL
Oh, and a choice of 2 tickets to their production shows which I never use unless Sylvia comes along.

I did not have advance reservations but they honored it anyway. LOL

MGM always let's me in.

However, if they had not, I could always stay at LVH. LOL

Well, I wasted a lot of time and energy with NYNY including having to go back later
and retrieve my rental car. Hertz gave me an Ultima. No Caddy this time. LOL

The only thing I saw about NYNY that I liked was the place was easy to navigate.

I just looked up and could see everything. Guess it was because of their the high ceiling
and maybe because there were not many people blocking my view. LOL

I found the escalator to the bridge to MGM really fast!!! LOL

They're going to be a lot more empty if they keep this stuff up! I looked at my account on MLife today and saw that my NYNY reservation was NOT canceled! I asked that host at least a week ago to cancel it. So I called VIP services and had them cancel it immediately.

Unbelievable that they would charge a player of your level that stupid resort fee, too. <shaking head>

I'm glad MGM Grand welcomed you with open arms and gave you all you're entitled to!

So how did the trip go gambling wise?

Mare, I won everywhere I visited this trip. LOL

After a slow start at MGM's Pai Gow (lost $500), I went downtown for a break.

Lets' see.

In chronological order:

BJ:

$500 at GG
$200 at Fitz
$1,700 at GC ( I got lost and ended up there) LOL
$12,000 at MGM
$3,000 at BJ in about 10 minutes of BJ. LOL

At Pai Gow:
Got 4 aces (25-1) with a $30 bet up, paying $750

Then a little tiny bit later...a royal flush paying 150-1 with $40 up for $6,000.

The pit boss was standing behind me watching how I squeezed out the cards. LOL
I had K-A-Q of diamonds-joker in that order and then a red J peaked out. I turned around and
saw the PB was right behind me. He said, "50-50." The odds it would be the J of diamonds.
However, some guy sitting next to 3rd base ruined it because he said, "Well, I have the Jack of Hearts."
So I knew before looking it was the Jack of Diamonds.

Won the rest of the money on the regular Pai Gow bets.

Hey, MGM did not mind because not only was the lady at 3rd base losing $10,000 at that point,
but I heard the PB's talking about a guy at another table in the pit down $96,000. LOL

So my win was small potatoes. LOL

Also, visited Cosmo and got 4 aces again at Pai Gow with a $100 bet on the bonus paying $2,500.
I was betting a little heavier at C testing for future comp offers.
BTW, 4 aces pay the same at Pai Gow as any other 4OAK. But it makes for more interest
looking for that fifth ace which then pays 400-1. That would have paid me $40,000.
Too bad I did not get that at C. LOL

Also, I won $10 playing the Gold Fish slot there.
Hey, lots of fun hitting the bonuses they have.
Got to pick treasure chests and after finishing they show where all the hidden loot was. LOL
Also, go 20 free spins.
I was ahead about $100 but quit just winning $10. LOL

My only losses were the $500 at my first Pai Gow session at MGM plus
I lost $200 at roulette and $300 at 3-card poker. Just doing a heat check at those. LOL

I could not play the mechanical horse racing machine which is a lot of fun because
it was always filled with people.

Hey, I just did a gambling TR!!!! LOL

I hope this portends to a great 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a lot of fun winning at gambling, yes?
Wow, congrats on some fantastic wins!
Awesome wins, Jerry -- CONGRATULATIONS!!! Yes, let that just be the start of a terrific winning year!!!
This looks like a TR to me Mr. lol

MUCHO CONGRATS again!!!!!

You really KNOW your Tables, and really Proud how you walked OUTTA Dodge (NYNY)
and to the OK Corral. mgm
They treat you MUCH Better over there!!!

Note to self..........Don't book NYNY. That's just Wrong!

VIP = Very Irritating Personnel

She said they were out of Marquis Suites.

Like "We're out of green grapes"????

Glad you walked the walk, Jerry.
Fooey on 'em.
Great start with the wins this year!

Thx for all the info & details on NYNY. Whew! I'd almost convinced myself it might not be so bad to stay there in order to cash in on the FP.

I'm rethinking possibilities & am now considering the double booking feature I've cashed in on in the past. My only problem is the new M-life system. I'm a tad worried that it could backfire & seriously effect future comps. Any thoughts on this?
