MGM Rooms

Rockymet has asked me to give some information regarding the newly refurbished rooms at the MGM Grand. Just got back yesterday from a great trip.
We did get a refurbished room but my son used the $20.00 trick. Not sure we would have gotten one otherwise because the check-in guy was hemming and hawing until he saw my son's wallet out.
Anyway the rooms are very nice. Modern looking, earth tones, similar to Wynn with new T.V.s. The best part was the beds. Nice linens and very comfortable.
The unfortunate thing with older hotels refurbishing rooms is that they can't do much with the bathrooms. They did add new cabinetry and fixtures but they can't make them bigger and they can't add one of those great soaking tubs like the Venetian or the Wynn. And no separate shower.
Also I think the rooms are being done from the lower to the upper. We were on the 10th floor with what would have been a nice strip view if we were higher but all we saw was a big concrete wall with a little slice of strip view. Ugly.
But we aren't really into room views so that was okay.
Overall they have definitely made the rooms much nicer and I would recommend if you get a good deal.
One caveat - be prepared to walk and walk and walk some more!
Thanks for the room update. Is there any renovation going on in the casino and other public areas?
No - not at this time but I did hear that they will be removing the Lion Habitat and putting some type of club in that area. I am sad to see that go.
