Mirage VP Comps

Staying at the Mirage next month, just wondering if anyone has any recent experience with VP comps. I plan to play $1 machines for a few hours each day. Any idea if I'll get anything? Can I ask slot host for buffet or coffee shop comp on first day? I am a Vegas newbie and have only stayed at the Mirage once before.
Great question! There are LOTS of folks on here who can give personal experience to $1 VP @ Mirage, so allow me to make a broad, blanket statement: Yes! You absolutely should ask for a buffet or coffee shop comp!! Especially if you're playing $1 VP for 3-4 hours. Something to think about, however, is something called ADT (Average Daily Theoretical). Do a search on these boards for it, (or check out this blog post: https://www.viceloungeonline.com/2011/06/how-much-are-you-worth-to-the-casino/) but you *may* wish to consider concentrating your play to just a day or two so that you create a large daily theoretical.

That said, you will definitely have no problem getting a buffet pass with the type of play it sounds like you're going to run thru the machines!
Thanks so much! If I give my m Life card at check in and then have resort fees being charged daily, do you think this counts as a "day" when they calculate my average ADT? Same for non gaming spending like spa or show tickets? Thanks for the help.
Great question. To be sure, you should ask. But I'll give you my two cents: To answer your question specifically [what? a straight answer from a lawyer??] no, your daily resort fees will not trigger a "trip" for you regarding your ADT. What will trigger a trip, however, is if you allow Mirage to credit your player club account on check-in or check-out. I'm not positive that you can do this, but, you may want to see if they can fully charge your portfolio and (if they will) pay for your entire stay NOT at check-out but on whatever day you plan on doing your heavy gaming. This way you'll get your room cost credited to your players club on the same day you do your heavy play. See? You're already causing a trip to occur when you put your card in the VP card slot and press 'bet'! So if you're going to cause a trip, take care of your room costs that same day too! It's two birds, one trip...er...stone! =) Again, the only unknown to me (I'm a CET, not MGM player) is whether or not you can get your whole trip charged to your account at once and make payment. I don't see why not! You'd just have a credit on your portfolio which would be eaten away at each night as the new charges pop up.

The other way to do it (which I'm not crazy about) is that you just don't accept the credit to your player's club account when you check out. I'm assuming you're paying for your room. At $100(-ish?) per night, that's some nice pointage getting added to your player's account! I never had a player's club with MGM prior to last June, 2012, when my wife and I went out and stayed at Bellagio (one and only time staying at a MGM property). Because I paid full rack rate for a Bellagio Penthouse Suite, we leap frogged from the starter level of Sapphire, over Pearl to their Gold level. The good news, for me, was they did this on the day I was playing so I was able to get the credit on the same day I was already creating a "trip".

Whew, I get that I just dumped a lot on you! This (IMHO) is the fun of learning and playing the comp game! Welcome to the madness! =)

Charge meals to your room. By the time you check out you will have earned some Express Comps. Express comps are dollars you can use to pay for meals etc. If you have a balance at checkout, tell them you want to use Express Comps to pay.

That's if you don't score comps from a host.

There would be no reason to hand over your mLife card at check-in.

At check-in you show your ID and a credit card which allows you to charge things to the room and pay for everything at check-out (use Express Comps if you didn't get a host comp).

Have fun!
Thanks, since I am paying for my room this time I would like to get tier points for the stay. It'll be about 16,000 tier credits so I would like to get them credited. I guess I'll have to so some pretty good gaming activity on check out day and give them my m Life card when I check out so I don't hurt my ADT too much.
I think that's a brilliant move!
Mlife properties don't go by ADT, they use a trip theo. You will not get dinged for short play days.
No kidding? Now i need to put pen to paper and see how best to play then! Do you have any ideas on how they count a "trip"? ie. Activity on a players for X number of days in a row? Thanks for the info on this!

Your trip ends 72 hours after you last used your card.
