NYNY RFB question

I received an offer from NYNY for a suite, limo, $300 free play, VIP Lounge check-in, and it says RFB clearly in my online offer. So I call to book it and ask the girl in VIP if RFB includes everything on the property. Her response to me is that THERE it is based on play. My response to her is that that is totally different than any other MGM Resorts property. She insists that's the way it is at NYNY.

My question: does anyone here have experience with this that they can share with me?

It doesn't seem right that they can put "RFB" right in your offer and then base what they comp you on your play at the END of your trip.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
I've never had an offer like that from NYNY (or anywhere) but from my experience the NYNY folks are ready to tell you one thing and do the other.

I was told my resort fees would be taken care of (on a comp room) if I played "at my usual level of play". Checkout comes and I'm charged for three days of resort fees... no help from the players club, host or checkout person.

It's pretty much the reason the MGM folks have lost my business.
Hey Mare, what level of coin-in did you play to get that offer?
Don't think it matters Vetsen, as shes been playing at Other MGM props., Not at NYNY.
Am I correct Mare?

The question is..........is NYNY doing things differently than Other MGM props?

RFB should be RFB. Not RFB with strings attached. Sounds like Resort fee fiasco material if you ask me.

If thats the case Mare? I'd tell NYNY to stick it.

My guess that woman you talked to is wrong. If she isn't? Then their rule is wrong.

Can a different Host help you out? Doesn't sound right to me.

Right, I haven't really played at NYNY. It seems like MGM Resorts is trying to push me away from the places I really play and put me in places I haven't by how the offers have been lately. I'm getting crap offers from Excalibur, where I have the most play, and decent (but not fabulous) offers from other places like NYNY, MB, and Bellagio.

I just spoke with host, Lee Abraham, on the phone and she said they're doing this because there have been too many people come in and not play beyond taking their free play, so now they have the ability to charge you if you do that. She said as long as you come in and play normally everything will be covered. Still, it seems ridiculous to even put RFB in your offer if that's the way it's going to be. I told her my worry was that I might get my butt kicked early and not be able to put in my normal play and then I would have charges on top of the loss. She said they take that into consideration. Still, I really don't feel comfortable with this set up and could see a possible fight at the end of the trip -- one I'm not willing to have.
Mare, I think the host you spoke with gave you the correct info.

I am sort of in the same boat as you.

I am staying on my next trip at NYNY too. LOL

My last visit was when they opened up.

The reasons I'm staying there are:

I feel like staying somewhere different.

It's right across the bridge from MGM where I seem to win (knock on wood). LOL

My email was RFB with a suite and $1,500 in Free Play or chips.
I got duplicate offers from Excalibur and Luxor.

No Limo. LOL

Hey, I never get a limo offer from anyone. What gives with that?

I did not have a discussion pertaining to your inquiry with the lady I spoke with.

I just asked her about the resort fee that said something to the effect, "You MAY be
charged a resort fee." LOL

I told her when I checked into MGM my last trip I received in my paperwork from them
a card mentioning all you get with their resort fee.

I think it said:

free wireless connection
free newspaper you pick up
4 free drinks at their major bars
free local and 800 calls
free faxes and printing of boarding passes at their business center

I believe that was the list.

It never did say how much the resort fee was.

Anyway, I did not see it come up on my TV screen and was never charged for it so that was good.

When I mentioned this to the NYNY gal she said, "They probably did not charge it based on your play."

She said that's what they (NYNY) will probably do too.

I'm not an expert on these things but I know whenever I lose big and fast and then stop playing,
they (MGM/Mirage) have never docked me for lack of play.

However, money is tight in LV these days so you never know for sure.

I would say they probably will not bother you if you lose early on.

Hey, wait!!! You will win so this is all a mute point, righto? LOL

BTW, I still don't think I will like my stay there because whenever I look down at the casino
floor from above when I cross the bridge from MGM, it looks like an ant farm. LOL

I'm not sure I'll be keeping this reservation. It just irks me that they're playing the game this way. I have no intention of losing big -- I'm trying to be a good girl and set a daily loss limit from now on. So, if I get to that loss limit and it's not good enough for them and they charged me I would be really pissed off. I don't think it's worth it for me to put myself in that position when I can stay elsewhere and not have to worry about it.

Jerry -- I'm sure the way you play you shouldn't have any problems, but I have heard that NYNY is strange about playing at sister properties and not there, so you may want to ask about that!
Even though we play at a good enough level to be covered (99% of the time)..........its the Rule that they will Look into and decide at the End if were qualified or not?

No thanks. Either give me the offer, so I know how to plan. What to expect.

Or Don't offer it. Real simple.

It's Not fun to play games with Host A, B or C at the end of my stay.........whether I Didn't make RFB or IF Resort fees will be charged?

OH, if you call to clarify or cancel? Make sure you tell them WHY.

That's what I've been doing............my own little revolt. lol

I will, CLV, and I agree with you completely.
We don't play at NYNY but do play at other MGM properties. We received a NYNY offer about six months ago for a suite, some free play, show tickets and $300 in food. Took them up on the offer, really enjoyed the show and the free play and the food. We didn't play at NY during our stay although we did play at the Ex (although not as much as we usually play).

When we went to check out, the food charges were on our bill. WTF? A lengthy negotiation ensued. LOL. The short version is as follows:

"Why aren't you picking up our food?"

"Because you didn't play enough."

"But the offer said $300 in FREE food"

"Well, yeah, but the fine print at the bottom of the offer says food is based on play."

"Oops, so it does, but you can barely read the fine print and we did play at a sister property."

After much more of the same, an executive host came in and she picked up all of the food. Sorry, but I didn't get her name. I was happy with the end result. I was not at all happy with the misleading offer even though I totally blame myself for not reading the fine print (I should know better).
