Resort fees

I was told by my hosts at Aria,MGM and Mirage that if the room is comped there will not be a resort fee on comped nights.
The only way there would be a fee is if you are staying more nights than you are comped.
I am very glad to hear this. I am a CET/Stations gal and though I like some of the MGM properties and have stayed at Bellagio in the past (with a certificate I got by redeeming LOTS of points from the Borgata in AC), I had always thought a resort fee at MGM properties was charged, including on comped rooms. That fact combined with the fact that CET has a much more clear and consise rewards program (very little mystery about what you earn, etc.) are the two basic reasons why I don't play much at MGM properties in Vegas.

I very much enjoyed my stay at Bellagio, however, and even though there are newer hotels on the strip, I continue to enjoy the understated (by Vegas standards LOL) elegance of that property. I may give the Bellagio a bit of play during my next trip. I'm staying at both the Cosmo and Caesars next time and will walking back and forth in front of the Bellagio quite a bit!
I have never been charged a resort fee on my comp rooms at Luxor, MB, NYNY or Excalibur until this week. I called to get my two free nights at Luxor in September and they said sure, it will only cost me $42 (the resort fee for 2 nights plus tax). I don't think this is a very good way to treat their loyal customers.
We called today to book 3 comped nights plus a 4th night at MGM.
They told us that we could have the 4th night for $39.00 plus we would be billed 4 resort fees of $25.00 each plus taxes.
We told them to forget it - we have lots of other comps. They said that we may be able to get it waived at check out if we ask.
We told them not to worry about it and booked downtown instead.

tonyrob- can you take your 3 comp nights, and then book 4th night elsewhere?
I've heard of people having this problem (of being charged Resort fee on ALL nights) when they have a Paid night built into their comp rezzie. Keep your Comp nights Seperate!

Stayed at Aria comped for a few times this year, and still No resort fee.
And no checkout BS.
Thanks for the advice - I hadn't tried that. Too late for this trip but I will definitely try that the next offer they send - thanks
loxor mandelay bay and excalibur do not charge on comped rooms. You will notice on you e-mails of offers it states that. Just booked for feb 3 nites comp and its says no resort fees for free nites If you get an e-mail saying no resort fee print it and take it with you.
If I plan on extending my stay or arrive a day early I make a seperate reservation.
On arrival I ask for the same type of accomodations that I will be in for my comped stay.It does not always work.
I travel from the Philadelphia and if I take a late flight and arrive at night I may be too tired or drunk to gamble. I may not want to be held to the expectation of 4 hours play if I arrive at 10pm.
If I do play however,I call my host and ask him to comp the room for that night.
