Using Mlife points

I have lots of MGM Mlife points, but don't always stay at MGM places. When I tried to 'spend' points at the Luxor gift shop, she asked my room number. It seems that you can't spend points at retail unless you are staying at the hotel. She said I would have to charge it to my room then take care of it later. Huh? Is this for all MGM? Has anyone encountered this?

I believe mlife points can only be used directly for the typical "comp" items, like room, food/bev, shows and not retail purchases. I also tried to use my points at the gift shop (Mandalay Bay) and was told they can only give you a tier discount on most items but cannot use points.

I do not know if they are able to apply points to your gift shop room charges or not.

I tried to use mine to cover the tips (charged to the room with meals).
Meals, yes. Tips, no.

CE is the same way Candy. RC's don't cover tips.

I went to players club booth in Bell and asked about my mgm points.
Appears they stay good til a year since you earned them.
I didn't understand why my mgm points kept going down?

I like CE better, where you Know where your Tier Points stand ALL YEAR.......
they go up all year, then start at 0 New years. That I understand.

Instead of mgm, where you have points disappearing all year because you earned some of em
365 days earlier. Harder to keep track where you stand.

I have basically given up trying to keep up with mgm........and will be TIN indefinately.
