Had a look today and there is a definite tightening of MyVegas rewards since Jan 1. I hear Facebook has also been tightening up on user accounts with names like "John MyVegas" - probably at the request of MyVegas, who won't want people having more than one user account. Some time ago there was a hack available online (I never installed it) in which you could just put how many MyVegas chips you wanted, and apparently get them free... I'm guessing a small number of people have done that, abused the system, and thus MyVegas have had to take steps to reduce the number of rewards available that cost them directly.
Most shows now are companion tickets only. Most buffets and freeplays require a stay at an MGM property. Even a monorail ticket now is buy one get one free. The only show left is Cris Angel - and he's at 63000 coins, when others used to be at 40000. I'm sad - because I'd built up 150,000 after 5 months of play, planning to get tickets to Ka, Love, and Cris Angel for free - looks like that won't happen now.
Can't complain because the game and points are free (I refuse to pay for the coins / chips for the very reasons outlined above), but it's getting less and less compelling to play given the tightening.
My advice is to get rewards SOON if you're going to want to see particular shows etc - before they disappear from the rewards catalogue altogether.
