Boston was right to dump Perkins

Boston was right to dump Perkins It messed up the Celtic's chemistry but clearly this guy is no longer ready for prime-time. OKC certainly has the outside game and can drive but no post-up play at all. Gotta have some of that to balance your scoring. No points for scowling. Also, he's the biggest cheap shot artist around (with all due respect to Mr. Artest and Mr. Bynum). Perkins kept whacking Gasol of Memphis in the face and breaking Marion's nose was no accident. He's a bum. Dallas means business. They took OKC's best shots and just keep coming. I doubted them a bit when they choked a big lead to Portland one night but since then they have been far and away the best out there and they bring it every night. They will payback Miami for getting jobbed by the refs in 2006.

That is good insight. Ok City had to expect more from him. I've seen him play much better. Perhaps he's limited because of his injuries over the past few years. I think he sat out the first few weeks after they acquired him. At the same time they got a lot out of Collison though I thought.
they got a lot [more] out of Collison [than] I thought.
This as well.

I agree. Collison gave them much more than I expected. Goes to show you what hustle is worth. He doesn't have a lot of skills but his energy is invaluable. Van Gundy sure noticed his contributions.
Supposedly Ainge was originally trying to get Harden in the deal. No such luck for the Celtics as Harden has played much better than Green in playoffs. Surprised by Perkins lack of contribution, supposedly still hurt, but maybe his best years are behind him. Perhaps with that Clippers #1 pick in a couple years the Celtics got best of that deal. Don't think they win even with Perkins this year, but if they don't make that trade I believe they play well end of regular season, get #1 seed and are playing in East Finals.
I think this was a look to the future for Mr Ainge of the Celtics.... his eyes probably seen he was not going to win what he had so might as well get ready to reel in the big guy from Orlando.
perkins perkins knee was not close to 100% in the playoffs. it was not 100% or close to it when AINGE traded him. AINGE also believed the knee was possibly going to be a constant career issue. he was also going to be a free agent. he did not think the asking price because of the knee issue was going to be worth signing him long term. instead of loosing him to free agency , and getting nothing in return, hence you have the trade. BUT GREEN'S performance with the celtics was nothing close to being GREAT. time will tell with him. if AINGE could have pried away HARDEN from OKC, this would have been a grand larceny charge right now.

ALSO COACH DOC RIVERS DID NOT RE-UP FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS WITHOUT BEING CONVINCED THAT SOME MAJOR SHAKE-UP WOULD BE TAKING PLACE TO MAKE SURE THAT VEGAS WILL MAKE THEM A TOP FIVE FAVORITE TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVERY YEAR THAT HE IS UNDER CONTRACT. HE'S DEALT WITH REBUILDING FROM SCRATCH IN THE PAST, AND HAS PUBLICLY STATED THAT HE DOES NOT WANT ANY PART OF IT AGAIN. KIND OF LIKE TAKING OVER THE PHIL JACKSON PROFILE
I heard an Ainge interview on WEEI where they asked him if Rondo was tradable and Ainge responded that would be highly unlikely. Can't imagine they'd move Pierce, but could see Allen. Don't know who would take KG with that contract. I'm interested in what they do with Big Baby who is a free agent. One other comment on the trade. Celts could have used some energy off the bench in that Heat series and I think they missed Nate Robinson especially after Rondo was maimed. Again probably not going to change the outcome of the series but he may have stole a game if he got hot.
