Isn't Ten and Pur a fade today in this system?
Not The Way I Play the "Fat and Happy"
Isn't Ten and Pur a fade today in this system?
Tennessee and Purdue are both playing another Top 25 team so they don't qualify as a play on the "Fat and Happy" system. Some folks play the Dog when two Top 25 teams play each other. I've found it's better to stick with only fading the Top 25 team in the 1st half when they're playing a non-Top 25 team.
That's why we're all here, to learn from one another. It was my belief one was supposed to take the lower ranked team. O.S. or Shooter, what is correct?

O.S. or Shooter, what is correct?
Here's what OS said in an earlier post... Fat and happy: fade top 25 teams (i use both USA and AP Polls) in the first half if they have won three or more straight. If two top 25 teams face each other and both are in top 25, bet the dog. I assumed OS meant to bet the Dog for the game rather than the 1st half but I might be wrong. Let's see what OS and Shooter says when they respond to your post. Thanks!
Here is the system per trotman: Fat & Happy is only the top 25 teams (trot uses only the AP rankings to determine this) that have won at least 3 consecutive games S/U. You fade them all the time in first halves anf full games regardless of the spread beginning in mid-January. The theory is that this upper class of teams gets overpriced, starts thinking too early about the tourneys, and has a target on their back against motivated underdogs who are capable of giving them a game for at least a half. First half bets have been better the last 2 years. Outsiders are teams who have won at least trhee in a row but AREN'T in the top 25. This caliber of team is less likely to get distracted, and more likely to stay motivated because they're not ranked yet. These teams have been showing good cover marks in the first half...but have been 50/50 in games after showing a promising start. You fade the fat and happys...you take the Outsiders
Is there a record of Fat and Happy during the past few years?
Thanks Bucky! Do you know how to bet that situation? Thanks.

Makes Sense!
You play the underdog if both teams are on the win streaks.
Thanks, Shooter! I knew to play the Dog but I didn't pick up on the fact that BOTH teams had to be on the 3 game win streak. By the way, I assume the Dog bet you referred to is still just the 1st half? Thanks!
