March Madness Round One Thursday [B]708 Tennessee -3[/B] Would San Diego State be in this tournament if they had not won the MWC Final? Some say yes, I say no. SDST played their hearts out, beat New Mexico and UNLV and now must gun it with the Vols. Tough spot IMO. The Vols are the only team in the tournament to beat No.#1 Kansas and Kentucky and sure they have thrown in some clunkers, but when the chips are down this team and HC Bruce Pearl win. SDST is the worst free throw shooting team in the tournament at 61%. [B]712 Richmond -2[/B] St. Marys is getting too much respect for their lopsided win vs Gonzaga, who bascially threw in the towel when behind by double digits. St. Marys is a good team on their home court and thats about it. Now, the Gaels must travel clear across the country through 3 time zones and play a team that has the superior speed and skill IMO. Tough spot indeed. The Spiders play an in your face style of defense. They will protect the 3pt line and force St Marys to take bad shots. They avg 8.4 steals per game and Anderson and Butler both have 50 plus steals each. We want the tougher, better defensive half court team in this matchup.

Also, SDS is 205th in turnover % while the Vols are 23rd in causing turnovers. SDS is very susceptible to TO's when pressed.
