NBA 11/03 Tuesday thoughts

NBA 11/03 Tuesday thoughts Somebody please give me one more reason to bet the Clippers +8.5 tonight. Oklahoma City travels to Portland tonight after this one to play Portland on national TV tomorrow night. The Clippers are a disaster area 4 games into the season, but OKC needs a win, and then some rest for its starters if possible. I think the Clippers have an excellent chance of slipping in under the number. I don't see the Clippers quitting as they have a young core of players, who despite the 0-5 record, should play hard to the final whistle. Second, is Orlando sitting around talking about how they need to beat the Twolves by more than 32 points, as the Heat did last night? I know they would love to lay a serious whipping on them. Even though they got blown out last night, the Twolves brought it, they just couldn't match up with the Heat. But it's obvious Orlando doesn't mind destroying people, and this is sort of a statement game for them after getting destroyed by the Heat. I'd think, in their minds, they have to blow the Twolves out. 18.5 is too much for me to lay, and taking 18.5 is a lot of points to get. I do think that the way Orlando approaches this game will say a lot about their mindset going forward. But this one could get ugly quick.

I appreciate the opportunity to learn. As far as the Thunder playing the first of back-to-back road games goes... Oklahoma City is a perfect 7-0 ATS since December 1st 2008 when playing the first of back-to-back road games when they are off a 5+ point loss. In their three qualifying games last season, they beat the Heat 100-87 getting 5' in Miami, lost to the Lakers 111-108 getting 10 in LA and crushed the 76ers 111-93 laying 6 in Philly. The SDQL is: team=Thunder and n:rest=0 and A and n:A and p:margin=20081201 I would say that this is not, by itself, a reason to play on the Thunder. What it does tell us is that playing on the Clippers because the Thunder is playing in Portland tomorrow does not agree with what has happened in the past. Regards, Prof M.
