NBA Finals are 2-3-2

NBA Finals are 2-3-2 Why do they play 2-3-2 instead of 2-2-1-1-1 in the Finals? Is there a particular reason for changing what is done for the rest of the playoffs?
OK, I guess I figured it out...Probably due to potential travel time on an East Coast/West Coast series...
I also think the Finals gets a lot more press people covering it and makes things easier on them. God knows Stern likes to cater to the press. Is there anyone that likes the 2-3-2 format? Always seems strange that they flip the format in the Finals.
Does anyone think this 2-3-2 format favors one side or another in the Finals ?

Travel is cut down- main reason--- usually its 3000 miles apart so this cuts down
It was done this way because of travel. Years ago, teams flew on commercial flights and that often involved connections which were a pain. Now of days with all teams flying private charters one would think they should go back to 2-2-1-1-1
yes [QUOTE=commish;43353]I also think the Finals gets a lot more press people covering it and makes things easier on them. God knows Stern likes to cater to the press. It was done for the media. Too difficult to keep going back and forth, especially cross country LA to Boston and Philly.
