NBA Wed 724 Portland -5.5
The overnight line was -4.5 and with the rumor that Brandon Roy would possibly return here before the All-Star break the line surely had to go up. Roy is now out and the line is still climbing. It's obvious Portland who is on a roll having won their L5 games including defeating the Bulls (covered 4 of 5) that this is the right side.
The Hornets have issues, one of which is a scheduling mess. Last week they headed up to New Jersey, then down to Orlando, back at home for one game only vs. Chicago (lost handily 88-97), then this week up to Golden State who they played last night and now back to back road games vs Portland. Tough to win consistently when you are dragged around like that IMO.
The Hornets have lost 6 of L7 and 8 of L10. They still have scoring issues only managing 89 and 88 L2G and trade rumors persist with all key players.
This is the first of five straight games in a row for Portland at home. A scheduling mismatch indeed.
