New Prices

Fez' explanation covers most of it. Our subscriber numbers at this time of year compared to our numbers during football season are vastly different. Obviously, many more bettors want access to Fezzik's information during football. That makes perfect sense. But those customers who don't support this board year-round should have to pay a higher price. Even $99 per month doesn't approach what many of the services charge and that's just for their picks, so we felt it was a good number. The grandfathering is a nod and a thanks to all of you who do support this board year-round. You will get special "founding member" coding soon and, depending on how things progress, we may extend this frozen price indefinitely. To sum it up, we love the fee-based idea for keeping out the crud. We think we are at a fair-value point right now and we're willing to continue running the board just as it is with our current clientele. That's why we're keeping your prices the same. If others come on at the new prices, it will put us in a different revenue position that will allow us to reinvest into the effort and make it even better. Either outcome is satisfactory for us. Regarding some of the other questions. We are programming a prompt to let you know when your yearly subscription expires. And we have some thoughts about additional handicapping talent. But right now we like it with Fezz and Alf being the only house handicappers. We get good input from the likes of truushot, Prof Meyer, Tim Patterson, helmut, rickj, johnnetto, DiscreetCat, Custer, Flipper, Sixth Sense, charliej, RealWorldSports, and many others. It’s a pretty good roster as it currently stands. Feel free to comment further. We're listening.
Rethinking how the members are classified would be nice. Something like Admin (you), Host (Fez), Senior handicapper (Alf and others), Founding member (anyone that joined in July 2009), Early adopter (anyone else that gets the $199/yr rate), Member (everyone who pays the new rate). Who gets put in the senior handicapper and founding member categories is pretty arbitrary. That should be up to you. It wouldn't be an official endorsement, per se, either, but it would help users weight the information better if they knew whether it was just me spewing crap or TheDude finding a Big Sky CBB total off by seven points. And of course the actual names of the groups can be whatever. But that is how I would divide up the members if such a thing is necessary. At a minimum, classifying the sharper members should make it easier for newer users to get the value out of LVA Sports that it offers and should also be a suitable replacement for everyone's favorite, record keeping. Also consider letting users extend for 11 more months for $900 if they like their first month.
I agree on the worth of the info that Fezz gives out....not just the picks but the way he looks at an upcoming game. I think his futures and his NBA are poison to the books. The other handicappers do have good info but will they be posting more in the future ? Thank you

You'd likely have to provide many different classifications. You may want to follow my picks in boxing and UFC, I don't think you want to follow me at anything else. (not that I post anything else) For example, calling me a senior handicapper would be a lie. I'd like to see a better system but certainly don't want to see anyone misled.

Anthony, do we get some kind of warning when we need to renew? I have no idea if I'm on a monthly plan or yearly plan, but would hate to miss the renewal at the current rate...
Our system isn't set up for that, but we're looking into it. The reality is, if you lapse you'll know because you won't be able to get in. Just contact us and we'll get you set back up on the current terms. It's happened a couple of times already and it's an easy fix.
