Playin' Hoops

Playin' Hoops Billikins over the Washington Huskies in early college hoops. 9AM start on the Washington body clocks makes first half stronger play than game. Any motivational edge for UW is gone as the St. Louis-native player they're rewarding with a "hometown game" is out hurt. Majerus vs Romar is a coaching mismatch. More experienced SLU will slow down and confuse UW with deliberate offense and vicious defense. Huskies don't like to play this style and rarely play non-conference road games.
Great call Kevin
Much appreciated, caught your post for the 1H just prior to tip......
Never in doubt.

Big move to Dartmouth today and now San Francisco is available as low as -8. Rex Walters has program heading in right direction, hence a new contract extenstion announced this week. They're much better than Dartmouth, as USF is a solid WCC outfit with five returning starters and Dartmouth is 1-2 and was lucky to beat Bryant by 4. Modestly accomplished junior guard Griffin, who shot 30% from outside arc last year, exploded with a 7-11 performance from oustide the arc vs. Bryant. Rest of Dartmouth starters combined for 4-19 from the field. Big Green dominated boards in that home win vs. Bryant but USF is a different story. 12:50AM EST tip in Alaska doesn't favor the Big Green, who just got to Anchorage Monday night and body clocks havent' adjusted. USF body clocks have 3 hour advantage here. Early season line moves are well-informed but I think USF wins handily.
No play but info on a couple of teams to pay attention to re: personnel issues. Thought I'd be on Akron over WVU here but they've essentially got no point guard. Detroit's down to 8 players: https://www.searchingforbillyedelin.com/2011/11/27/2590956/injuries-detroit-titans-eight-players-mccallum-holman
Some things to note in college hoops in recent days. Reeves Nelson was expected to be a big star, but has been suspended again for UCLA. He was suspended early, reinstated for the Maui Classic, which he missed the flight for and was disciplined with reduced playing time. Now his suspension is being branded as indefinite by Ben Howland. The Bruins are a mess right now. Rough, rough times in Beehive State college basketball, with four Utah schools not having their full complement of hoopsters. Utah State star forward Jardine will not be coming back any time soon from his foot injury. Forward Morgan Grim has a bad ankle and the flu. Utah is terrible, and now has suspended their top scorer. Though maybe that’s a mixed blessing as he’s a turnover machine. Chris Collinsworth (no, not that one), hoped to provide depth for BYU in the frontcourt, is unable to come back from his knee injury. Even Weber State is down a key man, with Kyle Bullinger out with an elbow injury. Following a suspension that derailed his team’s promising start, Alex Abreau is back for Akron. The point guard’s return did not fuel success, as the Zips were blasted by over 20 by MTSU. Detroit beat St. John’s last night, but that may speak to how weak the Johnnies are, as Detroit is down to 8 players. Since the article on that referenced below, Nick Minnerath (knee, out for year) has been granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA. I expected to be playing Detroit early in the season, but their personnel issues have made that impossible to do. The Titans will be in better shape in the second semester when some transfers get healthy. Trevor Mbakwe of Minnesota is out for the year with a knee injury. He was the Gophers leading scorer (14PPG). Good stuff KO, thanks for the posts
Marquette transfer Smith, expected to be eligible today for UNLV, didn't make the trip. The Rebels' only Chicago product, sophomore point guard Reggie Smith, was a late scratch from the team flight. Smith, a transfer from Marquette, expected to become eligible for this game and had it circled for months as his homecoming. But he was taking five classes in the fall semester and not all of his grades were posted in time for him to make the trip. "I knew this was going to happen and I had a 50-50 chance of playing," said Smith, who described his emotions as "crushed."
