Question to Alf (the NBA Man Here)

Question to Alf (the NBA Man Here) I am new on this site. Realize that with the possible long NBA down time, this question might be moot, but am curious, how do you handicap NBA games/totals? Do you look for a certain difference between your number and the bookie line? Do you use 'inside information'? (If so, won't pry for your sources!!) Do you follow other handicappers you respect? Just want to 'hone' my NBA style of betting. Hope that is OK!!
Welcome to LVASports MrSF111Jones! I do not follow anyone specifically or a group of handicappers, but if I'm given a play/bet from another handicapper that I know, I will check it out. Yes, with NBA totals it's 90% about the number for me, and the greater the difference between my line and the bookmakers is what constitutes the weight of the play. But, this past year, I played very few totals because I set a large parameter at 12 points and rarely found my line to be that far off. I concentrate on what I think the defenses will give up and shooting percentage is key. Inside information? Of course, not just the NBA but any sport. I have developed a list of contacts that is now over 100, and I consider them all inside information, some are deeper entrenched than others. The theory of two heads are better than one applies in sports handicapping IMO and also here at LVASports where there are many solid cappers, writers and members! However, you cannot even think about the NBA now, I'm looking into some of the Euroleague rosters and a contact of mine bets Euro BB seriously and has a data base with betting lines. If Kobe and Nash bolt and play overseas, others will surely follow and we'll be betting the Turkish TBL league and others sooner than you think.
