Selection sunday, how the committee will keep the mid major powers down. Look for Butler to be paired with a very strong Mid Major Sleeper like St Marys/Gonzaga/etc. NO WAY the evil good ole Boys on the committe are going to embarrass an Illinois or GT with a Butler Pairing. THEN they might just put No. Iowa on a collission course Rd 2 with Butler. Further, Good Ole Butler will get KU in rd 3 to kick their butt. OR, they will get Ky or Syr. NO WAY the Good Ole Boys are going to let these guys have the Ohio St/Duke West region where they could win.
NO WAY any mid major gets a whiff of the wounded Purdue team in round2. What presents a problem is that Purdue if they are no.3 has to play a 14, and that is a 'good' automatic bid mid major team..........UH OH!!! Likely, the committee is rooting for Purdue to lose tomorrow so they can deal them a 4 seed, and put them in with some crappy ACC/Pac10 No12 and No13 bracket to avoid the embarrassment of St Marys or Wofford beating or (gulp) woodshedding this team.
If they have to give up a no.3 to the Boilers, they will hand pick a team that SHOULD be 15, and give them a no14, just to save embarassment. NO WAY a real team gets them.
This tournament was built on games like Richmond beating Indiana, and Hampton beating a no2. But rest assured, the committee's goal EVERY year is to look to avoid having any mid major embarrass ANY big conference team. They pair the strong Davids vs. other Davids, and then put them up against a Panthzer Tank in Rd 2 or 3 to take them out.
ESPN will of course congratulate them on a job well done.........
