Shooter's 3/11 CBB

BIG 10 OPENING ROUND: 753 Iowa (+8) (-105) Might be square here, but I think Iowa, despite getting drummed their L2 games, have improved as the season has gone along. Michigan has not. Iowa got killed 73-45 in this game last year in the B10 1st Round. They remember it. Lickliter is from Indy and this is a homecoming of sorts. Iowa's young kids seem excited to play with each other in the future. Michigan seemingly wants the season over. Both teams are slow yet have horrible defenses.
BIG 12 QUARTERFINAL #2: 731 Nebraska (+4') (-105) 1st H 731 Nebraska (+8) Game 731/732 Nebraska/Texas A & M UN 56' (-108) 1st H I don't expect the Huskers to shoot lights out like yesterday, but they can slow down the tempo to stay in the game. SEC OPENING ROUND #2: 747 LSU (+6') 1st H 747 LSU (+12) Game Vols may be a little too amped up early to play in front of semi-home crowd in Nashville. LSU has a couple of wins of late and some confidence. PAC-10 QUARTERFINAL #1: 759 UCLA (-1) Bruins gave the game away in McKale last week. I foresee a better effort here. MOUNTAIN WEST QUARTERFINAL #1: 767 Air Force (+9') 1st H 767 Air Force (+17') Game New Mexico is the #1 seed. They may let down a little here and they still aren't used to playing in this position of being the hunted. Air Force will play hard as hell for 40 minutes. WAC QUARTERFINAL #1: 775/776 Boise State/Utah State UN 61' 1st Half
C-USA QUARTERFINAL #2: 739 Southern Miss (+6) UAB blew a huge lead and had total control of the game at UTEP only to get beaten on a Derrick Caracter dunk at the buzzer. UAB is another one of those "must win" bubble teams that I like to fade. 2 decent defenses. Eustachy is a crafty coach on short prep.
WAC QUARTERFINAL #2: 778 Louisiana Tech (-4) (-109) La Tech just played in this building over the weekend. Fresno is shorthanded (see TCovers post).

BIG 10 OPENING ROUND: 755 Indiana (+9) 755/756 Indiana/Northwestern UN 62 1st Half 755/756 Indiana/Northwestern UN 135 Game Concerned about foulfest down the stretch, but these teams combined for 23 3-pters on Saturday. Both teams shoot 3 to 4% worse on the road. Lots of toutdom love for the Wildcats off their loss to the Hoosiers. IU has played decent the last couple of games. Crean has decided to cut the minutes of Dumes and Rivers and go with the the freshmen and soph Verdell Jones. Crean let go of Roshown McLeod, the former Duke player, as an assistant. That has to send a message to this club that he's not f'n around.
MOUNTAIN WEST QUARTERFINAL #2: 769 Colorado State (+10) (-106) San Diego State yet another bubble team that "needs a win". Colorado State is very well-coached. Tim Miles is one of the good coaches that nobody knows about. He got this team to a likely NIT bid. San Diego State more talented and athletic, but they tend to fold under the pressure.
PAC-10 QUARTERFINAL #2: 761 Oregon (+6) (-105) 1st H Oregon on very short rest after playing late last night. However, I don't think we see the fatigue materialize until the 2nd Half. Oregon still will have some adrenaline early. As much as I am down on Ernie Kent and have never liked him as a coach, his teams historically play their best in the Pac-10 Tournament for some reason (wins in 03' and 07').
Miami FL easy. With the exception of Duke and maybe Maryland, anybody can beat anybody in this conference this year. Doggies may rule the days to come in the ACC.
Iowa, nice little backdoor cover.
Iowa, nice little backdoor cover.
 Sigh of relief. Whew. Wrong side, right result. Iowa's one of those teams that never quit till the buzzer.
