Shooter's 3/12 CBB

I bet Burger a lunch you'd have more post than BigPappa today. I don't think he can catch you now. Thanks for the lunch, and future winners !
C-USA SEMIFINAL #1: 859 Tulsa (+2) 1st Half 859 Tulsa (+3') (-109) Game 859/860 Tulsa/UTEP UN 61' 1st H UTEP knows they are in. Tulsa on their own home floor here. UTEP off a blowout. Tulsa was down at half and put it on Marshall in the 2nd. I think they have some confidence here.
PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP: 889/890 Lafayette/Lehigh UN 144' Lehigh is more uptempo than most Patriot League teams, but as we saw in the Northeast Title Game the other night. These little conferences tend to go way under when the margin of error is so small to clinch an automatic bid.
MEAC SEMIFINAL #1: 891 Hampton (+6) (-108) 891/892 Hampton/Morgan State UN 61' 1st H Hampton is the better defensive club and I like defensive dogs.

ATLANTIC 10 QUARTERFINAL #3: 837/838 Dayton/Xavier UN 134' 838 Xavier (-2') (-111) Dayton "needs the win" as a bubble team. Xavier's guards are just that much better than Dayton's guards. C-USA SEMIFINAL #2: 861/862 Houston/Southern Miss UN 132 862 Southern Miss (+2) Memphis is still considered king of Conference USA, even though that's not the case this year. Houston beat them late in the game yesterday. Even though this is a tournament game, this is a letdown spot. Southern Miss is much better defensively. Like I said yesterday, Eustachy is a very good coach on short prep. Southern Miss completely discombobulated UAB and they can do the same against a team that has poor shot selection like Houston. BIG 10 QUARTERFINAL #3: 846 Purdue (-8) (-104) Northwestern the public doggie like Penn State yesterday. Northwestern's win over Indiana was not the 15 point blowout that the final score indicated. Indiana made 13 of their 19 turnovers in the 2nd half and most of them were unforced errors. Carmody talked about the fact that Conseco is a tough shooting gym for outside shooting (Cats shot 7-31 yesterday). I would expect Northwestern to go inside a little more, but Purdue plays really good defense and forces you to take outside shots. Bruce Weber had a really good observation about the Purdue defense. They pressure you between the "30's", meaning from the end of the coaching box on one end to the other end. That will force numerous turnovers by the Wildcats.
BIG EAST SEMIFINAL #1: 861/862 Georgetown/Marquette UN 60' 1st Half 862 Marquette (+2) 1st Half 862 Marquette (+3') Game ACC QUARTERFINAL #3: 829 Georgia Tech (+2) (-102) 1st Half 829 Georgia Tech (+4) (-104) Game Maryland comes in hot to the ACC tourney. Hot teams are often faes in these tourneys though. Georgia Tech had this game won in College Park only to get their hearts ripped out at the buzzer. That game really started GT's downward spiral late. I think these guys remember that game and I foresee a focused GT team. I also like to take dogs that have the better defense and rebounding on a neutral site. BIG 12 SEMIFINAL #1: 865/866 Texas A & M/Kansas UN 63 1st Half 866 Kansas (-9) (-113) Kansas came out lethargic in the first half against Texas Tech. I didn't like A & M's effort and performance against Nebraska. They really let them hang around and Nebraska got whatever shot they wanted inside. A & M is a public doggie here. MAC SEMIFINAL #1: 869 Western Michigan (+4) (-112) Not necessarily going against Akron b/c of their double OT win. W Michigan a little better defensively and Akron doesn't shoot well from the FT line down the stretch.
SEC SEMIFINAL #3: 853/854 Florida/Mississippi State UN 61 (-102) 1st H 854 Mississippi State (-1) (-115) Miss State MUCH better defensive and rebounding team. They also do very well in this tournament historically and won the thing last year.
BIG 10 QUARTERFINAL #4: 847 Minnesota (+2) (-105) 1st Half 847 Minnesota (+3') Game 847/848 Minnesota/Michigan State OV 128' Every team has been considered the darkhorse of this tournament except for Minnesota. Minny is one of the best defensive teams in the Big 10. They also have size as well. Folks might be sleeping on the Gophers.
MOUNTAIN WEST SEMIFINAL #1: 877/878 San Diego State/New Mexico UN 62' 1st Half Big game for both teams (SDSU's NCAA bid and New Mex to ensure top 3 seeding). The buttholes might be puckering a little early on. WAC SEMIFINAL #1: 881/882 Louisiana Tech/Utah State UN 61 1st Half 882 Utah State (-7) (-115) La Tech covered both meetings. Utah St is on a mission here. Utah St has the best homecourt in the WAC and they only beat this team by 6, yet the line opened 8.5? Hmmm. SWAC SEMIFINAL #2: 897 Grambling (+12) 897/898 Grambling/Texas Southern UN 61' 1st Half I said this the other day. No team should lay this many points to another in this conference. It isn't like there is a large talent gap between the teams.
BIG EAST SEMIFINAL #2: 863/864 Notre Dame/West Virginia UN 126' 864 West Virginia (-4') (-111) ND has been slowing it down into slugfests. Huggins is more than happy to play that way. West Virginia got a little wakeup call last night. Still a potential #1 on the line for the Mountaineers.
