Tuesday Hoops 522 Indiana State +3 over Wichita State
While Wichita State was winning in extraordinarily lucky fashion on Sunday night at Illinois State, Indiana State was resting after two practices and a weightlifting session on Sunday in which their coach read them the riot act and the players agreed that their performance was unacceptable in a loss at Bradley.
On Monday Indiana State was even deeper into their prep for this game and here's what Wichita State was doing per Paul Suellentrop of the Wichita Eagle: "a happy group of coaches, players and fans gathered Monday afternoon at Indiana State’s practice gym. They rehashed Sunday’s game, shook their heads at Carmichael’s blunder and smiled at the improbability of it all. While the players stretched, coaches teased them for their poor shooting in the first half, joking that Illinois State sent a bill for a shattered backboard. Marshall called radio broadcaster Mike Kennedy off the sidelines to educate the Shockers on the fact they last won back-to-back MVC titles in 1964 and 1965. WSU holds a one-game lead over Creighton with three to play and the Shockers can see the finish line."
The level of officiating incompetency and sheer luck (no, I wasn't involved in the game) certainly called for reflection, and that has completely taken away the revenge motive for WSU in this game. Take the points with a more focused home dog.
526 Michigan State -1.5 over Indiana.
same game: under 140.5/141
Spartans match up well. MSU big men can handle Zeller. Hoosier star guard will play, but a smidge gimpy, one would imagine. This has to favor MSU defensively. Spartans have revenge from game where they played great. Get to fade a road team off consecutive blowout home wins coming into a place where they haven't won since 1991. And it will not be a surprise if MSU proves to be the better team. These two clubs, Michigan, and Wisconsin, are the clear class of the conference. Both these teams are 2-1 against the other elite, but Hoosiers played all of those games at home while MSU's only home game against the other elite was the blowout win over Michigan. They'll be prepared tonight, especially defensively. And favoring the under is the fact that with the Hoosiers playing so well offensively, the game plan from Izzo has got to be to get IU into a street fight. MSU actually only averaging 1.5 possessions per game less than IU in conference play, but wouldn't be surprised to see this be uglier than expected.
