Wednesday Checkers

Wednesday Checkers 526) Goldy Gopher -14.5 vs road weary zips. At 1st glance, this looks too high, but with the size advantage (REB edge) and the way Tubby's kids played down the stretch vs E Ky, the knuckleheads @ Dudesports Inc. feel they are sitting on a monster blowout game. Ralph Sampson the 143rd should windex the boards all night and if Blakie boy can get his 3 ball raining they roll BIGGG here. Walnut play= 0.5%. Good Luck
Walnut is correct on this as I'm a gopher and watch them closely. Laying lumber is definately not their specialty and since Nolen left the lineup their 3-point def and off efficiency has been subpar. If and when Nolen returns, the Gophs should be a playa. All that said, Good luck! Later Dude!
I lean to the Gophers here as well, primarily for the reason you stated Dude. Minnesota is a very good rebounding club and going up against one of the worst in the nation (Akron -7.1 rebounds per game (339th in the country) against a fairly weak schedule). Minnesota's rebounding should get them a healthy number of extra possessions to stretch this out. I respect Akron a bit, but think this is a poor spot for them to stay close. Right now, this is as about as close to a play as I have on this shitty card.
My take: Akron at Minnesota
The Zips are better than what they showed last time out in an 82-47 loss at Temple, but when they have stepped up in class they have been exposed. Against the best teams they have faced the Zips lost to Cleveland State by 13, Dayton by 8 and Temple by 35. Now they are playing their fourth straight road game before returning home to play Bethune-Cookman on Saturday and then heading to Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic. This is a terrible scheduling spot for Akron who will be physically dominated by a very good Minnesota team.
Minnesota has gotten off to quick starts posting a 7-3 ATS mark against first half numbers. Only a second half collapse against Virginia has kept the Golden Gophers from an undefeated season. They led that game by double digits at the half before losing 87-79. This is a team that has beaten the likes of Siena, North Carolina and West Virginia. Under Tubby Smith the Gophers have been a bully at Williams Arena posting a solid 24-16 spread mark as home favorites. They take advantage of a weary Zips team here.
