Hello from Sunny St. Louis, MO

Hi,

I'm a past member (07) but had never posted back in the day. I am now planning our "30th birthday, 2nd anniversary, pre wedding honeymoon" for Sept 15-25th with stops in San Diego, Vegas (4 days) and LA.

I'm a 30yr old accountant by day, student by night. I've been to Vegas once for a friends wedding on 7/7/7 and managed to jump out of a plane, hit it big at Palms (thank you Mr. Omaha for that $500 tip!), and break up a 25yr friendship all in one day. I still enjoyed my time there! I'm a craps playing, shoe shopping kinda gal.

The Mr. is a 29yr old (will hit 30 when we are in town) nursing home supervisor who loves anything sports and wrestling (eh). He has never been to Vegas and before he met me had only been on 1 flight in his life. When we went to NYC for a week he was not impressed so I hope Vegas will be more fun for him.

I managed to get a killer deal on the Signature @MGM and have been planning our trip even since.

If anyone has a suggestion for romantic/birthday fun things to do (straight from the Mr.'s mouth) please let me know as our 2nd anniversary and his birthday are on the same day. So far this is what I have planned:

Breakfast at Paris (do they still have where you can eat in the Eiffel Tower? We planned that last visit and never made it)

Gondola Ride at the Venetian

Big Elvis Show (a suggestion from the Mr.'s cousin who lives in LV and will "bump into us" that night with a birthday cake

Yep, that's all I got people so post your suggestions!!!

Welcome to posting here!

I think you guys have chosen some good cities to visit this trip (although LV likely has the most action to offer).

I live in L.A. and so I might be able to answer any questions you may have about the Los Angeles area.

There seem to be some birthday day and month casino specials around LV (including a Free $25 Table Games bet at Santa Fe Casino and some Slot Club points bonuses from some other casinos).

There also is a restaurant way up the Stratosphere tower that might be good (and some rides up there as well), so maybe you should check into that.

Enjoy!

Thanks RecVPPlayer! We are looking forward to baseball in San Diego and LA and relaxing at the beach then fun and lights in Vegas.

Quick question about the drive from San Diego to Vegas and then from Vegas to LA; are there any sightseeing places along the way or should we just breeze thru? We are leaving at 5am on Sunday from San Diego so I don't see us hitting traffic on the way to Vegas. Coming into LA we are leaving Vegas on Thrus. Would it be better to leave early 5am or wait till later in the day to avoid the most LA traffic? We are heading towards the fashion district in LA if that makes a difference.

Thanks again!! 29 days to go :D

You're very welcome! And enjoy yourselves! And I wish you both a safe, fun and profitable vacation!

Well between San Diego and LV there is some stuff but it's up to you as to whether you might like any of the stuff. There are some Native American casinos around San Diego County and there also is Temecula (which is where there are some Wineries and another Native American casino Pechanga -- but I don't know anything about that casino although I think that their Slot Club may not return much), the Lenwood exit off of Interstate 15 (which is just before the main Barstow exits) which has some Factory Outlet Stores, I think there is Calico Ghost Town (along the way) as well as the World's Largest Thermometer in Baker (and in Baker in front of the Country Market next to the UNOCAL gas station are racks of all kinds of vouchers for all kinds of Las Vegas related stuff -- so do check that out and pick up 24/7 Vegas Magazine booklet and check that out as well). But if you're leaving at 5 AM on Sunday morning, I don't know how much of this stuff will be open (except for the casinos and the Market in Baker).

Then just as you're entering Nevada from Southern California, there is the last California Lottery Outlet (where among other things they sell Mega-Millions Lottery Tickets) as well as the Factory Outlets and three casinos (Terrible's, Buffalo Bill's and Whiskey Pete's and one of them [I think Whiskey Pete's] has the Death Car of Bonnie And Clyde the notorious Bank Robbers in the 1930's.

If you decide to go to the Factory Outlets -- which I'm sure have some shoe stores (in Lenwood and in Primm [right past the Nevada border]), if you have an American Auto Club Card (AAA) and go to Customer Service, you will then be able to get a coupon book good for more discounts.

Oh, and for the Mr., betting on sporting events is available in at least most if not all Nevada Casinos, so check into that as well! And if you guys want some fun challenges, there is the Midway games at Circus-Circus (and if you can get your hands on a Circus-Circus funbook, which you may be able to get at the Market Express there [which is not far from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts]), there are some 2 For 1 Midway games coupons and maybe 2 For 1 Miniature Golf (if that is still available), Plus an Amusement Park (the Adventure Dome) for which there should be a $4 Off coupon in the Funbook and/or you can try out the Pinball Hall Of Fame which is on Tropicana (if I remember correctly).

Also, there are a couple of sports teams in LV and maybe they will be playing when you are in town (but I have no idea about their schedule). There is the Las Vegas 51's (I think they are called) Minor League Baseball team. They are one of the Farm Clubs of the Toronto Blue Jays and so maybe that can be checked out as well! And there also are the Las Vegas Wranglers who play Hockey.

As for finding the birthday/week/month specials around LV, there are some threads about that in the other Message Boards here with that information. Go to the "search" link above (that's below the word "Navigation" higher up on this page) and once there type in Birthday Promotions in the Search area and then go to the list of the different Message Boards and scroll down the list to highlight all of them and then push the Search button.

As for coming to Los Angeles, you could leave at 5 AM although I think that you might be better off in leaving LV more like at about 8:30-9 AM or so. Traffic into LA can be not good until about 10AM or so.

I hope that this helps you!

Oh and tell me about your Craps play! Are you looking for something with lower minimum bets or are you fine where you are?

And now since it is after 9/25, you must be back from your SD/LV/LA trip (which I hope was great and great fun).

Well anyway, in the "Today's News" section of September 27th, it says that the Las Vegas Wrangler's Hockey Team has made arrangements to play at the arena at Orleans Casino through the 2013-2014 season. And so maybe that's another reason for you and the Mister to make another trip there.
