vegas 1st timer/nascar

Hello everyone!
We are going to vegas for the march nascar races. We are debating on whether we should buy our tickets now or wait until we get there. Does anyone know which is best?

Also-this will be my first trip to vegas. We will be there for 10 days. Any helpful hints, deals, etc would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks!
Welcome to the LVA Message Boards!

I can't answer you about NASCAR, but as for tips, this site has plenty and also check out the Vegas Values section of the American Casino Guide website that usually lists some nice current and ongoing promotions going on!

And since 10 days is I think a nice amount of time to be in town, although I don't know how much time the NASCAR stuff is going to take, you can try to check out the different gaming areas around Las Vegas (especially in conjunction with the coupons from the LVA's MRB and the American Casino Guide.

And also keep your eyes open for any of the Freebie Las Vegas magazines such as LV2GO, 24/7 Vegas and the Vegas Values Coupon Booklet because you never know what you may find in there!

And if there are things that you end up missing seeing (experiencing), you can always come back to do more exploring and experiencing!

Enjoy!

thank you!

I did order the 2012 MRB book. I haven't checked out the ACG yet, but I will.

I've been on so many LV websites-I can't keep them straight. But, the reason I was asking about Nascar is somewhere I read that it's easy to obtain free tickets to the races. I don't want to spend $300.00+ for tickets if I don't have to. lol!

I'm excited about coming to Vegas and want to do as much as I can for as cheap as I can.

thanks for the info-I appreciate it!

rudd- we went to Nascar this year, and it was our first time at LVMS. Lots of fun.
We were able to finagle pit passes, so was super fun instead of just sitting in the stands.
We lucked out, and the weather was Perfect too.

We had a comp stay thru Caesars, so had stay/transportation to & from Caesars to LVMS by
private motor coach, etc. Nascar Tickets were comped.

Thats the only way I know about getting in there for free. I think you may need to be a mid to high roller
for the comp pkg.
But if you have a history at a certain casino & a host? Doesn't hurt to ask.
Good luck.

thanks Calif for the info.

We're definitely not high rollers. We're not even low rollers. While I'm sure we will do some gambling, we're going for the Nascar races(good to hear you had a fun time) and to take in all of the sights (dam, grand canyon, etc) that we possibly can while we are there.

Somewhere I read since Nascar isn't real popular in that area we should wait until we get to Vegas. There are people in the streets passing out tickets for free. I don't know whether this person just got lucky or if this is the norm for Vegas.

I appreciate your response. All of these little tidbits do help!
thanks agian!

You're very welcome! Also, I do want you to know that at least in the past I have been in LV right before Nascar week and at the Fremont Street Experience (at least in the past), they had all kinds of Nascar souvenir booths. So check into that if you're interested!

thanks again!

I'm excited about getting to go to a new area. We've done Indy, Kentucky & Michigan for many, many years. It's time for a change.

We like souvenirs, too!

Vegas has a lot to offer-I don't know whether 9 nights is going to be enough time!

I will be there for the race (Sunday Only) as well. I would get your tickets now. You want to sit anywhere besides Section 4; I would suggest either Section 2, White or Blue and either the Petty or Eardhardt Terraces, the closer to the start/finish line the better.

Do not take a car to the track. Find a tour company that offers round trip bus transportation, leaving the driving to someone else. I drove there one year, had to park miles away and had to wait almost 3 hours just to get out of the parking lot... And do not take the "special NASCAR" bus. You wait a long time for it after the races too...

Going with a tour company was the way to do it, especially if you are going to both races. They park a lot closer, and you are usually back to your hotel or drop-off point about 1 to 2 hours after the checked flag.

I got my Sunday only ticket through lvms.com and the link to the ticket exchange. $140/ticket, Section 2M, Row 23. You can get them for even less, sitting lower and between turns 3 and 4 (Section 4) where you don't see near as much...

As for going to Vegas for your first time, pace yourself. It's a big place, and walking from place to place is deceiving. Those buildings are HUGE, making them look closer than they appear. Don't try to stick to an Adgenda too much, plans always change in Vegas.

Keep reading the forums, sign-up for players cards, and be on the look-out for deals.

Vegas does have a lot to offer but you could always make a repeat visit and have another vacation out there (if you plan to come out again)!

As for getting Slot Club cards around town, I can't necessarily say that you should get them all over the place if you want to get better offers for return visits.

If you are going to play, you might want to concentrate your play more at places that you might be more likely to return to.

And yes, if you are staying on the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard), the casinos are huge and can take quite a while to walk around though. In Downtown LV, it is much more compact and is very easy to walk from one casino to another.

And if you can go downtown you'll get even more entertainment if you are there after dark since there is Viva Vision (the world's largest TV screen which has some nice lights and music shows) as well as bands and other entertainment.

Enjoy!

thanks!!!

that is a lot of helpful info. I don't know if I will be returning to Vegas or not. That's why I want to do as much as I can this trip. Between 3 days at the track & 2 travel days -I think we will have 4 free days . Going downtown and Grand Canyon is definitely on our list.

Like I mentioned, we're not big gamblers. We have casinos within 50 miles from us (indiana) and I think we've been there 3(?) times. We go to Toledo, Ohio a couple of times a year and went to the MGM(?) casino once in Michigan. That's a BIG place!!!

I've heard Section 2 is one of the best sections to sit at lvms. I don't want to travel that far and not be able to see! I really appreciate the info. I have already made transportation reservations to/from lvms thru coach america. (Can you tell I'm excited?).

All of you have been very nice & helpful and I appreciate it. If you think of anything else I might need to know. . .

thanks again!
