WELCOME TO THE NEW DOWNTOWN CATEGORY!!!

Since HP still hasn't gotten off its butt and created a downtown category, I'm going to pretend the unused "New Users" category is the Downtown one. Let's start with an observation from last Saturday night!

Last Saturday night at 9P, downtown was both sweltering and ABSOLUTELY PACKED as Loverboy prepared to take the First Street Stage by storm. As the 'boys squeezed into their red vinyl pants, a corpulent bewigged Nina Blackwood introduced them to the sweaty, poorly dentisted throng.

We made it for 1.5 songs. I don't know what the first song actually was, but it was an uptempo rocker probably about getting out there and having some fun, maybe even meeting a pretty young lady, not at all creepy for guys in their late 50s to be singing about.

It was just too hot to stay in that crowd though. So we went to the El Cortez and played craps. The end.
When I last visited Downtown in late June, even during the week at least through about midnight or so the street had a nice amount of people.

We were downtown twice last week, and the crowds were larger than anytime in the recent past. Had time for a great couple of brews at 777 and also a great king crab meal at the Flame (two different nights).

Gambling was not memorable, but it's better than the tourist traps on the strip.

I noticed more "street performers" this year... Sign of times I guess..

And. I want a DT form...

Marko.

Earlier today (at about 4:30PM) I did e-mail the powers-that-be at the LVA asking when the forum would be up and running and I have not received an answer yet -- although it was towards the end of the day and the week.

I do look forward to hopefully seeing it up-and-running very soon!

I've tried several times too...with very little luck. Great Idea!
Anarchy at the LVA. I love it.

I'll be in Vegas week after next, and a downtown excursion is planned -- if only to churn a bit of ElCo freeplay and visit the Griffin. I'm gratified to hear about impending new tenants at Neonopolis -- which is currently in such disarray they changed their name a few years ago and then apparently forgot. I won't be eating at Denny's or The Heart Attack Grill once they open, but I sincerely hope they flourish and pump a little life into the place.

I still get a bit of respect from The Fremont, so I will return the favor. But, sadly, the 4 Queens and I have decided to go our separate ways.

Was there last week and Neonopolis is just sad.. one lone jewler and a gift shop is all that remains.. if that much.. i wasnt interested enough to even walk in..

I would hope something, anything comes in to give it some life.. as the rest of downtown is picking up with the new bars and lounges..

marko..
Just booked a DT trip this morning for $311.00 total for air and 6 night's hotel over this upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend from Minneapolis. This is the 2nd trip I booked this week through Expedia, this rate was for the Vegas Club " the only DT hotel/casino that I have never stayed in " this rate is cheaper than what airfare alone usually is. I usually use CC miles to cover my trips but couldn't pass this up. Two questions, will I gain Suncountry Airlines miles from them, because I am a member of their program or not because I used a 3rd party to book, also when I booked through Expedia they had me enter my frequent flyer program # with SCA for that flight. 2nd question, beings this is the only property DT that I have not stayed in, can anyone help with a room location preference to ask for when checking in. Thanks

Given that you gave Expedia your flyer miles account number when making the reservation, you should get the miles credit for the flights, but make sure to ask when checking in. Ask for a north tower room at the LVC. They are bigger and newer.
