117) Maryland +15.5 vs Dabo's crew Clemson is just not that good, they are 1 dimensional....they try and pound the rock. We have seen Clemson lose 3 straight, and gain 305,311, and 414 total yards vs non-cupcakes.
Maryland is off a BYE and yes their schedule has not been a bunch of world beaters but....the Terps rank first in the ACC and 28th nationally in scoring defense (18.4 ppg), and have surrendered a league-low 11 TDs. They also have the best red-zone defense in the ACC (sixth nationally). Maryland is allowing opponents to gain just 4.8 yards per play, which ranks tied for third in the ACC.
The following is an excerpt from the plan NC used in the previous game vs Clemson.
----Slowing the Clemson running game was key, according to UNC safety Deunta Williams, who returned from a four-game, agent-related suspension.
“We knew if we made them one-dimensional, they’d have a tough time throwing the ball,†Williams said. “They don’t have a lot of weapons at receiver. If you stop Ellington and Harper, then the only other guy that can hurt you in their passing game is (tight end Dwayne) Allen.â€
