127 Nm st/Ohis ST LVSC sends out -44, total 44..........

They just gave 'over' bettors a total gift win on the opener, donk-fest Obviously, a very bad score for those parlaying vs. locals vs. closing numbers......
My book had -44 Ohio St. and the over/under was 48. So I made two straight bets of equal amounts of money: one on the over and the other on New Mexico State to cover. The only way I can lose both bets is if Ohio St. wins 45-0, 46-0, 47-0, or 46-1. Further affiant sayeth not!
Many great responses to this proposition. The point was that Ohio State favored by 44 was either too high and/or that the total of 48 was to low. So a bettor makes two straight bets...New Mexico State +44 and over the total of 48. I got out the pencil and paper and wrote down hundreds and hundreds of possible scores. It still stands that there are only four final scores in this game in which you'd lose both bets...Ohio State winning 45-0, 46-0, 47-0 and the highly unlikely 46-1. Then came a great number of bets in which you'd tie one and lose the other. Not good. Then there were the even greater number of bets where you'd lose the juice by winning one and losing one. That still left plenty of final scores which you'd win both bets. The further I went, the more unrealistic the scores became...i.e. New Mexico winning 23-22. This still appears to be a winning bet in the long run, but not like "finding money on the sidewalk" which I thought it was. Now I'm going back and finding that USC/Washington State game thread mentioned above.
Early nomination for Sports betting forum hall of fame. PS How does a team score 1 point?
Scoring one point in a game
Early nomination for Sports betting forum hall of fame. PS How does a team score 1 point?
Now I'm really getting scared I have dementia. Doesn't a college team get one point for blocking an opposing teams extra point and then running it back all the way?

two points.
There is a crazy scenario where a team can finish with 1 point in NCAA (not in NFL) involving a one-point safety on a conversion attempt, but it wouldn't stand a chance in happening in a million years unless the players did it on purpose.
