I think I like this angle the best, courtesy of Kirk Herbstreit:
All this hype about Oklahoma State is justified, but it’s uncharted waters. And here comes Georgia in week one … and they come limping in and nobody is expecting anything. I think Oklahoma State has to be very careful in week one, just because of the psychological effect of being in an area that they’re just not quite used to. Oklahoma is used to it. Texas is used to it. Oklahoma State is not. They need to show some maturity, not listening to all that hype and just playing their game, and if they do that, they’ll be fine. But if they get caught up in it, Georgia will come in there and get them.
The Dogs thrive in situations where little is expected from them. Most people see the departure of three high NFL draft picks (one of them being 1st overall) and think that the offense is done. Their o-line, however, will be significantly better this year than it was last. With AJ Green on the outside, a stable of backs, there should be no problems filling the RB and WR positions with quality players. QB will be a different story. But that's something that they'll be able to get away with against the sieve OKIE St will be coming at them with.
