2 Pt. Conversion Help

2 Pt. Conversion Help Can someone please explain to me why coaches go for 2 when they are up 4 in the NFL?? Today SD goes up 4 with five minutes to go and goes for 2. If they just kick it then they force the Texans to go for 2, if they score a TD, to go up 3. If SD doesnt make the 2 then the Texans simply kick to maintain the 3 point advantage. What am I missing?? And if it is so that if the Texans miss the kick then they tie then that is moronic.
1) Hou could score 2 fg and that would just tie it instead of give them the lead. 2) Hou could score TD which would only tie the game and would still need a PAT to take the lead. Teams could block the PAT to keep the game tied. a lead of 5 is pretty meh. a lead of 6 is much better late in the game numerically.

As far as Number 1 wouldnt it be far more likely for Hou to score a TD rather than 2 FG??
