2010 1st College Football play...... 203 Tulsa -6.5 -125 Fezzik and I were going to do a co-release on this game, and today is the day, he just beat me to it. We talked about this game 3 weeks before the College numbers came out. His actual line was higher than mine but we both thought they would hang -9, -9.5. I have wagers in at -6.5 and would lay -7 if we want more. Here's why.... Tulsa has this game circled with revenge. They let a close contest develop into a rout last year. Tulsa behind early fought back but East Carolina won 44-17, a closer look will tell that after 3Qs they were up 23-17 and then the wheels came off for Tulsa, with a 42 yd INT followed by a 57 yd INT and a 49 yd fumble. HC Todd Graham knows what he is doing after 10-4 and 11-3 seasons, he vows last year's 5-7 was an anomaly and that the road to another winning slate starts with East Carolina. The Pirates were underrated last year with a stellar defense and QB Pinkney and RB Lindsey moving the chains. Their HC Skip Holtz jumps to the Big East to USF and does so because of the location, Conference and class of that team, but also...... because at East Carolina the cupboard is bare. The past two seasons the Pirates posted 9-5 seasons which coincide with 9&7 and 7&9 returning starters. This year they bring back just 6 OFF and 2 on DEF. The main issue at hand for EC is new HC Ruffin McNeil and his new spread offense attack. So far the offense has struggled in fall scrimmages and they have the dreaded 3 headed QB rotation, with no clear starter. McNeil was the defensive coordinator at Texas Tech, a team not exactly noted for their defense! Also, we love to go against teams in the first season that hire their former players as head coaches, they just go through the motions as if everything is wonderful. Eg: Mike Sherman Texas A&M 4-8. There is such a huge edge at QB here that I have to believe that GJ Kinne will tear apart the new Pirates D. The experience returning is overwhelming and I have Tulsa better at every position sans WR and including Special Teams.
