2011 NFL agreement, Common Sense Abitration

2011 NFL agreement, Common Sense Abitration My understanding the owners used to get the first billion, then they chopped the rest. Surely, the players should realize that with revenues up 100%, this number should go up to 1.75 millionish, and then keep the current chop number in place. 18 weeks is a bad idea. Let's do this. Scrap 1 week of preseason, keep the season 16 weeks. If the players won't budge on the 1.7 billion off the top to the owners, they are greedy jerks. If the owners don't care enough about the players to limit the season to 16 games, then THEY are greedy jerks.
I want NFL Scabs.
I don't see why the number off the top necessarily should go up. It's purpose is for expenses incurred by the owners not to keep things proportional on a percentage basis. If that was the case only a straight percentage would have been negotiated. Now if expenses actually have greatly increased.. then there could maybe be an argument. If the shoe were on the other foot and revenues had gone down, I doubt the owners would budge on the idea of decreasing their amount taken off the top. The owners just sense that they are in a position of strength and can negotiate a sweeter deal then the one they had. The only common sense monetary problem are the rookie salaries. Reducing them would help teams from a strategical standpoint, and could help reward veteran players as well.
Ok, let's go to 18 weeks, but mandate 2 bye weeks, AND a mandatory17 games per player EVERYONE wins. Players get paid 2 more games, to play 1 more. They get three weeks off during the season instead of one. Sure, some fans are upset that the one game they see has no Tom Brady, but who cares about such a small detail, vs. the chance of NO football. We start preseason 8/1 with the HOF game, then games 8/8 and 8/15 fake ones, with 8/22 the real stuff starts two weeks early. With 2 more games, and an extra bye week, SB is Valentines' Day weekend. Works for everyone.

Or push it back a week and have it on Presidents Day. Then even the churches are happy. The 17/18 Games Played is an interesting idea. A lot of the stars get Week 17 off today if playoff seeding is secure, although can you imagine a team in a win-and-your-in scenario, but they have to start Charlie Batch? Maybe you start your backup against a bad opponent. The VORP (value over replacement player) is higher in the NFL than MLB, so it may not work.
