267 Texas +5, 3 weight

"If Bama comes into this game "fat, drunk and happy"" That will make three of us: Bama, Brian Kelly and I (#s 1 and 2, but not #3!). However, I find that hard to fathom in a National Championship scenario. MobileBandit sums it up nicely why I'm on the Crimson Tide. I am also surprised Fez didn't wait until closer to game time to see if +6 would be available.
Disagree/ Roll Tide I will agree this will be a war for the National Title. But, Alabama is the much tougher football team. Bama has the better defense and football coach. The Tide got that "white knuckler " game over with the comeback win over Auburn on the road. This Bama team just destined to become the national champion. Roll Tide!

Roll Tide![/QUOTE] and Texas just got their "white knuckler" game over with against NU. how can you prove that Bama has the better defense? Statistically, Texas has done about the same or better. how can you prove that Bama has the better coach? Check Mack Brown's record the past 8 years. All 10 win seasons. Check Mack's BCS record. 3-0. Check his record in the past 6 bowl games. 5-1. how did Saban do in his bowl game last year? For such a great coach, you'd think they would have done better than getting blown out by a non-BCS school. And you can say Bama was disappointed after losing to Florida....but Texas was equally or more disappointed for not making the big12/mnc game last year even after beating Oklahoma...missing out by hundredths of a point in the BCS standings.....and yet they won their game against a BCS school. I'm expecting a close game. Points should be at a premium here. I'm still very surprised Fezzik gave out the play already when the line should have only gone up due to public betting...unless he knows someone is planning on driving that number down....
Texas Rush Defense - Ranked #1 Opponent (Rushing Offense Rank) UL-Monroe (32) Wyoming (86) Texas Tech (115) UTEP (57) Colorado (113) Oklahoma (70) Missouri (82) Oklahoma St (24) UCF (73) Baylor (108) Kansas (101) Texas A&M (25) Nebraska (68) ------------ Alabama (12) Alabama Rush Defense - Ranked #2 Opponent (Rushing Offense Rank) Virginia Tech (15) FIU (107) North Texas (28) Arkansas (78) Kentucky (21) Mississippi (31) S. Carolina (91) Tennessee (43) LSU (84) Miss St. (10) Chattanooga (__) Auburn (13) Florida (9) ----------- Texas (55)

and yet what's interesting is....teams ran more on Texas than they did on Bama. 40 more times and gained 200 fewer yards. Team G Rush RushYds Avg Rush/G Y/G TD 1stD Texas 13 407 818 2.0 31.3 62.9 5 61 Alabama 13 366 1015 2.8 28.2 78.1 5 62

Interpretation - Bama's "D" faced much tougher rushing opponents than Texas' "D". And now Bama is facing a rushing team that is not nearly as good at rushing the ball as Bama's average rushing opponent was during the year. Not sure how Texas will be able to run against the Tide when no one else has been able to...

I assume Mack is a really good recruiter, which is obviously an important part of coaching, but other than that he's basically the head cheerleader/PR guy. Saban is an actual coach.
Not saying it's the right side necessarily but the consensus among reputable power raters/linemakers in the community had Texas rated as a 1-point favorite over Alabama prior to last weekend's conference championship games. Post championship games, I made Alabama minus 3. Good luck, Paul

Good Luck
