Alf M's College Football Week #3 Thread 172 Texas Tech +4......bad line IMO, tough matchup.
Do you want T Tech at +3, not when current line -3 -115 can be made into +3.5 -110, check your drop down boxes for the additional options.
This is rematch in Lubbock when WR Michael Crabtree caught a miracle pass and snuck in the endzone to ruin Texas and Colt McCoy's season and from the ranks of unbeaten. New HC Tuberville has mentioned the current squad of Red Raiders will watch that contest on film this week.
But this bet is more of a play against the Longhorns who have looked average at best against Rice and Wyoming and noteworthy they did not cover either game. QB Garret Gilbert has had trouble moving the chains because his WRs are a weak group, his RBs lack speed and his OL only has 2 returning starters and the rest are still developing.
T Tech has not played their entire lineup yet this season, they have been holding back for this game. The defense is suspect, but we all know it's their spread offense that will win this game,
142 Tennessee +17 -112
161 Navy -3.5
You may have noticed Navy 0-2 ATS, fumbled inside the 10 yd line now 4x total, they are banged up with many players questionable this week and last week they almost lost to AA Georgia Southern. So why are we backing the Midshipmen here? An old respected handicapper once told me, "you gotta dig." In other words, do the bloody work, get all the info you can, handicap the game from both sides of the ball and also an invaluable tool that is available to us now that wasn't even 6 years ago, is to watch all of the teams play.
If you watched Navy LW, you'll notice they did not move the ball well, only 9 first downs and 193 yards total offense. Now Georgia Southern is not a good team at all, but they do one thing well. Their offense runs the triple option offense same as Navy and GS has most of their best players on defense and this defense practices all the time defending the OPTION. And IMO if they hadn't turned the ball over and used decent clock management would have beaten Maryland. Navy posted 485 yards against MD!
Lou Tech has the dreaded 2 headed QB rotation. Last week they had 4 turnovers = 2 fumbles and 2 INTS, A&M had 4 fumbles themselves and yet the score was very lopsided 48-16 telling us that LT was dominated and cannot keep pace with the upper class teams, which IMO is a good barometer of a teams true strength is how they perform against top teams.
191 Houston -3....if QB Keenum plays this line is -7 in a hurry, still like it if he does not start.
At this time, looks like C Turner will start at QB. LW he was 9 of 10 passing and threw a TD. What I really liked was that they let RB Bryce Beall loose and he ran for 195 yds and 3 TDs.
UCLA has looked horrible in the early going. They let KSU RB Thomas run up and down the field for 234 yards and Stanford ran for 211 yards.
