Alf M's Football NFL Thread Week #17

Alf M's Football NFL Thread Week #17 This is a key playoff position week for many NFL teams, and a get ready for the off-season/exhibition week for others. If you have a strong opinion or a good handle on certain teams and what their game plan is, to rest or play, post it here. New England -4 vs. Miami....HC Belichick has reminded us all how LY in Week 17, WR Wes Welker went down with a knee injury and was lost for the playoffs. I've read Brady will play 2 quarters and RB "the law firm" will only take a few snaps and conflicting reports on the defense starters.....pass for now. Houston -3 vs. Jacksonville......Jax will start QB Edwards and looks like RB MJD is out and M Sims Walker has not practiced, if all 3 are out for sure, I'll play Houston because HC Kubiak and QB Shaub will out score Jax at home and not concerned that they can get in with a Colts loss, not going to happen. Detroit -3.5 vs. Minnesota.....Favre, Adrian Petterson and Sydney Rice could all miss this game. Was hoping for Favre to play and the Vikes play their hearts out for him. Vikes off Tuesday game, travel loses another day etc...strong lean to Lions here who have won 3 straight. NYG -3.5 vs Washington.....Giants are still alive and will be scoreboard watching during their game. They are the better team, they just lost to the Packers and Eagles while Washington beat Jax and Dallas, big difference IMO. Cannot recommend the Redskins and QB Rex Grossman who demonstrated he has no arm strength left whatsoever..... strong lean Giants, a buyer at -3. STL Rams -2.5 vs Seattle....do not want the 12th man team with QB Charlie Whitehurst at the controls who threw 18x for just 66 yards LW. Lean Rams, but wanted to lay -1 or less. 302 Kansas City -3 -120 The Chiefs are on a roll, undefeated at home, and the atmosphere at Arrowhead is back. HC Todd Haley in every interview and piece written about his team this week has publicly said, that they are going all out for the win. Don't believe everything you read. However, QB Cassel is eager to play to get his timing back after surgery and the defense is not getting any credit snubbed in the Pro Bowl. The Raiders have multiple injuries on defense and RB Darren McFadden who has carried this team is doubtful with an ankle injury. 7pt Teaser Colts -2.5 with GB Packers -3.........haven't hit a teaser on the site yet, we are over due. I'd be absolutely shocked if either side didn't win this week. 332 Under 47 San Diego at Denver Tim Teebow is getting some press for leading his team down field and winning LW, but that was against the worst defense in the NFL and now they are playing perhaps the best. The Chargers on paper have the No. #1 defense, and by all reports want to finish the season atop the rankings and I think they'll do that after being embarrassed by the Bengals last week with many blown coverages. On offense for the Chargers, their best receiver TE Gates out, best imitation of a bowling ball, RB Tolbert out and WR Crayton, Floyd and 2 OL all questionable.
Well said Alf! In regards to 7pt tease,I those are fine choices. I have already (5)teases in place, (7 pts). Baltimore -2.5...N Orleans -.5...Indy 2.5 and Oklahoma -9.5. I see so many tease options this Sunday if that's your thing (as it is mine). I dont think Pitt at Cleveland +1.5 is so bad either (not first choice)but I dont think they lose this game for bye purposes (IMO). Lastly, I teased Texas Tech down to 2 with NW's QB being out. Good luck to all!! HNY!!
The KC loss helps your teaser as now the Colts not only have the division to play for (which could be clinched if Jax gets bombed early by Hou), but also the 3rd AFC seed which misses at NE in round 2.
I just double downed on Indy teasers - almost guarantees Indy will miss the playoffs. Sorry guys! I'm beginning to think it's time to speculate in real estate...
