Alf M's Week 2 College Football Thread Early Plays
331 Michigan +5........would play at +4 or better
There are still a few +4s out there, but dropping fast, but no doubt the scalpers will come back and lay ND at some point, unless a big whale or huge tout releases Big Blue.
If you watched the ND-Purdue game it was blatantly obvious that Purdue QB Marve was rolling to his right ON EVERY SINGLE PLAY. This made for easy defensive adjustments and easy tackling and easy coverage. But, to me this ND squad, their lack of speed, poor execution and overall play looked like the same Notre Dame team we have watched for the past two years. Sophomore QB Dayne Crist has no touch on the football, he just drills every throw and kills the screen plays and swing calls.
Michigan will not look anything like the one-dimensional Boilermakers and QB Robinson will give the ND defense all they can handle. The Dog is 12-2 ATS L14 in this series.
363 San Diego St -10 ........line out of reach, at -10 only if it comes back
388 Oklahoma State -10....popular play...line gone
312 South Carolina -2.5
If Georgia suspensions hold up, we are talking about their Top RB Ealey and Top WR and Top 10 NFL Draft pick AJ Green, then laying -3 -120 would be fine.
This is perhaps Steve Spurier's best team at South Carolina and it not only seems that the defensive is in place and has been the strength for the past several years, the offense has extreme weapons as in Freshman RB Marcus Lattimore and Soph WR Alshon Jeffrey and now QB Stephen Garcia is playing his best ball.
The spot favors SC, they played last Thursday, have the extra days to prepare and Georgia must now go on the road and face an opponent that is massively different and a huge step up in class than they played the previous week.
360 Alabama -11....would not lay more than -11, big game hunter may play this down on game day.
333 E Michigan/Miami OH UNDER 54
Just watched the replay of Florida and Miami OH. Neither team could move the ball especially Miami OH. QB Dysert is very erratic to say the least, their OL is slow and they have no run game either. E Mich showed significant improvement from last year in week one putting up 20 first downs and rushing for over 200+ yards. However, they are strickly a running team. 4/9 for 31 yards passing LW vs. Army, they could have beat Army if they could pass the football. Agree with +14 on E Mich, but I like the total more.
376 USC -19.5
This line has gone up and will hit 20-21+, 18 is not as key a number as 17 IMO.
USC has and is receiving so much flack from letting Hawaii score 36 points, that we know that the Kiffin family will make DEFENSE the priority this week. Virginia struggled with Div 1AA Richmond last week, VIR was up just 14-10 at half. Now they must travel clear across the country to L.A and face the Trojans at the Coliseum in their home opener.
USC's offense is better than last year, they are loaded at RB, the OL has 2-3 NFL prospects and QB Matt Barkley led them down field on each drive for 49 pts LW. They also will have highly touted freshman RB Dillon Baxter in the line-up, he was SUSP for the Hawaii game.
Virginia doesn't need to win this game. They'll be concentrating on the ACC, this game is almost a vacation for them. Conversely, USC will be focused, intense, and want a blow out at home.
