Bills a disaster Just a total disaster for the Bills yesterday. Was I surprised? Yes in that I thought the moves would make a big difference for them. But also no in that the Jets D continues to give them problems. I lost a chunk on the Bills +3.5 (missed the better numbers). Here is all the disaster I could think of not in any particular order of severity.
1. David Nelson might be gone for the year. The Bills only carry 4 receivers I think so probably will call up a practice roster guy. Fred Jackson is hurt again. So far quiet on the severity of Jackson's injury.
2. Fitzpatrick is an absolute turnover machine. The quick decision making and snap throws now just looks like bad form. It is agreed his stats--which aren't really all that good yesterday---are misleading in how poorly he played. 2 interceptions to give the Jets short fields for scores and a bad pick 6. All kinds of other poor throws.
No amount of roster adjustment is going to fix the Bills if Fitz isn't sort of the guy that played in the 1st half of last year. He didn't look good in the pre season and then comes up with this performance. Big concerns here for the Bills.
3. Wannstedt is the new DC for the Bills just as horrible a start as one could get. Nothing creative to get to Sanchez of all QB's and they come up with no sacks. Sanchez had all day. Williams stopped by the inexperienced OL. Williams complained about hands to the face apparently. Maybe some would know whether it was a factor that it wasn't called but this area was surprisingly totally ineffective. With only 4 guys rushing one would figure the receivers would be covered but there were open receivers all day and Sanchez only threw to Keller----traditionally his favourite target---once.
From the Jets perspective I still think their ground game is pretty ordinary. The D should be good but I still get the feeling it isn't as good as other years. The Revis and Cromartie interceptions lead one to believe their stars are on their game-----but it is Fitzpatrick throwing those picks.
More positively is that Sanchez looked very good and that has to be important. And you know what Rex Ryan looked good and maybe Tony Sparano looked good as they obviously completely outcoached the Bills here.
Another spin might be that teams in scheming for the Jets will need to contend with Tebow perhaps at the expense of other schemes. Tebow had a quiet game but the Bills were beaten by everything else.
