Bonus futures divsion picks post week 1 BEARS to win DIvsion +300 2 weight (risk 2 to win 6) ONE GREAT BET.
ATL to win Divsion -125 risk 2.5 to win 2 units. ANOTHER GREAT BET.
I'd like to ask a theory question. Specifically I am not criticizing this pick in light of last night's game. We don't criticize in hindsight here.
If you had a choice between +300 Bears division and Bears ML +1XX in the Chi/GB game last night, why would you ever select the division bet? One ties up money for the whole season and is very volatile, but you know you need that Week 2 victory because of head-to-head tiebreakers. So again, from a game theory perspective, what was the advantage to picking the division bet vs the money line bet?
Hm, maybe I've answered my own question. A Chi win gives them a two-game lead over the Packers (assuming the Vikings and Lions don't contend) and a head-to-head win. It also sets you up to play back, because the Bears won't be +300 again for weeks, even if they lost the next few games. This game could have resulted in the Packers being plus money for the division. (They were -124-ish before kickoff.)
Of course, CHICago division bet just took a hit, they still could win. Don't panic, but of course, NOW we need WAY more than +300. The Bears still have a very real
chance to win the division. If they had won last night, they would have become a clear favorite.........
