Bookies battle the point spread. Week 3 I waited to post this until the third week so we can get an idea who to follow.
For those new to this thread, there is a LV periodical, Gaming Today, that runs a contest for all Nevada sports books to pick every game ATS for the NFL games. This contest runs for the regular 17 week season, and the winner gets a $1000 prize.
Since this paper is put to bed usually before the Sunday Night Game is over, the bookies have to have their picks in by Sunday afternoon for the following weeks games. The paper is printed on Monday, and distributed to the sports books on Tuesday and Wednesday. Since the lines are not firmed up by this time, there usually are differences in the lines they pick against vs. the current lines you see at most books. I try to show the differences between the lines when they are a point or more.
What I do is show the top 5 bookies who are leading the contest. I also show the Consensus picks from all the bookies in the contest. When the top 5 bookies are on the opposite side of the Consensus, you have a strong bet on what the bookies take.
The winner of the contest usually has a 60% winning average which is pretty damn good considering they are picking a week in advance, and ATS.
Soooo.....let's get started. Two games are missing due to the fact there were 2 ties the first two weeks.
In first place after two weeks is Todd Furman from Caesers Palace with a 21-9 record. Tied for 2nd and are William Anderson from the Gold Coast and Duane Colucci from the Rampart each with a 20-10 record. In the last 2 spots tied at 19-11 are Joe Porello from the Cannery(NLV), and Zack Goldberg from Palace Station. The MNF game is included in all results.

The above number is how many times a team was taken out of 67 bookies selections
There are 4 unanimous picks at 5-0, and they are TEN, SEA, MIA, AND CHI.
There are 7 games picked at 4-1. They are NE, PIT, CIN, SF, DAL, JAX, AND OAK.
Now for the differences. Books pick BAL, ATL, MIN, STL, SEA, AND MIA. The Consensus is on the other side of those picks. So in theory, the books selections should be your selections for this week.
Good luck, and I hope that this thread either makes you money or saves you some!
